Public transportation is a popular topic in street photography, and rightly so! Inner-city transportation is becoming more and more central to society and thus an integral part of our lives.

Going with the flow by Christian M?ller

A picture full of movement

The photo in the Paris metro was taken on one of his trips with his Canon EOS 5D Mk II and a wide-angle lens. "My initial intention here was to take a photo of the Paris metro in motion blur. As the metro pulled in and after I had the first picture in the box, the carriage door with the couple opened in front of me. I quickly pressed the remote shutter release. The vision of the image immediately popped into my head, an image that on the one hand depicts the speed of urban life, but in the midst of it a frozen scene from life."

The two photos were later combined in post-processing. First, the first image with the metro was placed in motion blur over the image with the stationary train and the couple, then a layer mask was used to reveal the traces of the metro's movement. A black and white processing was an obvious choice to enhance the surreal touch.
