With Canon the Lenses with EF bayonet are suitable for the Canon EOS digital cameras. EF stands for "electronic focus", which at the same time names the main feature of this lens development, the autofocus motor, which doesn't sit in the camera body, but in the lens and is equipped with a USM (ultrasonic motor).
