Foto Koch is celebrating 100 years and we are telling YOUR best stories, because without you we wouldn't be here. Today's story comes from Christian Donath. He tells us about his trip to Scotland due to Corona and why this change was worth it after all.
I am 36 years young and have been photographing since 2018, mainly nature/landscape photography. But my focus is also on wildlife photography, which gives me a sense of calm and strength. Photography is passion and dedication to see things the way you perceive them. So it's not just a hobby but a way of life!
The Highlands
2020 was a year like no other. Things turned out differently for me and my best friend. We had planned a trip to Iceland, but unfortunately this was not possible due to Corona. So we had to postpone our trip to Scotland at short notice. We didn't regret it. The country is simply wonderful. The Highlands and the rugged cliffs and ancient castles live up to its reputation. Historically, the country takes you straight back in time. Everywhere it is as if time has stood still. Only the ruins give you the feeling of living in the here and now. Scotland has more sheep than inhabitants and you can feel it. But what would Scotland be without sheep? It would be like bread without flour. The Highlands are a dream, there are mountains with beautiful greenery and waterfalls as far as the eye can see. We were there for 10 days and although they say it rains more than there are sunny days, we were lucky enough to only have one day of rain. But there were strong cold winds. All in all, it was a wonderful trip with lots of impressions.
