Foto Koch celebrates 100 years and we tell THE best stories! For today's story, we're going back a few years and looking at Foto Koch's old marketing strategies and own brands. Did you know that Koch was at times one of the largest Minolta dealers in Germany? Check out the whole story!
Phokox - Own brandDo you remember that?
Foto KOCH (then still Photo Koch) had several private labels at the time, which the company skillfully staged. Koch bought, or had hundreds of special models made especially for its customers (maybe there are still some of you reading this?) in order to circumvent the strict price fixing that was still in force at the time. Some own brands can be seen on these excerpts from the brochures. Perhaps you can still recognize some treasures?
- Phokox magnifiers
- Phokolux binoculars
- Phokomatic automatic 35mm cameras
- Edixa-Flex special models in many designs

Do you still remember the beautiful analog Minoltas? The company was founded in November 1928. Minolta had the book for the "Minolta 101" printed in a large edition for KOCH with a special imprint on the 3rd page. KOCH was instrumental in the introduction of the Minolta SLR in Germany and was at times the largest Minolta dealer in Germany. in 2005, they then entered into a strategic partnership with Sony, whereupon they finally ceased production of KonicaMinolta cameras, lenses and accessories in 2006. However, Minolta did not die out, but was technically taken over and further developed by Sony. Today, models such as the SR-1 are a true shrine and quite rightly so!
