Tripods relieve the photographer in many ways, because the body and lenses may weigh a lot. Also, hand-held photography is only possible up to certain lighting conditions. As a rule, the photographer, whether amateur or professional, needs a tripod when the light is too low and when he or she does not want to work with the flash. Exception: the smartphone stick is intended for spontaneous shots where the cell phone can be fixed - for selfies, for example. Otherwise, these tools are needed for many purposes.
