The FUJIFILM X-S20 mirrorless system camera with AI autofocus and long battery life

The new FUJIFILM X-S20 is a lightweight and compact system camera with AI-based autofocus, 6.2K video and extra powerful battery. The X-S20 expands the award-winning X series, which is highly regarded for its handy and innovative cameras and unparalleled color reproduction.

The X-S20 combines high image quality and maximum portability. Weighing only 491 grams^*1, it is the ideal travel camera. It is suitable for a wide range of subjects from spontaneous self-portraits to demanding photo and video shoots. The battery life is now twice as long as its predecessor^*2. Around 800 shots^*3 are achieved with a fully charged battery.

The compact camera offers many advanced features such as a high-resolution 26.1-megapixel X-Trans CMOS ⁴ sensor*4, the fast X-Processor 5, and five-axis image stabilization over 7.0 EV steps^*5. The innovative Scene Recognition AF based on Artificial Intelligence, already used in the flagship FUJIFILM X-T5 model, automatically detects animals and cars, among others.

Another highlight of the camera is the new Vlog mode, which, in combination with the TG-BT1 handheld tripod and the connection option for an external microphone, offers optimal conditions for high-quality video recording.

The FUJIFILM X-S20 will be available in stores from the end of June 2023 at a price of €1,399 (RRP).

High image quality

The X-S20 is equipped with a 26.1-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with rear exposure and the powerful X-Processor 5. The combination ensures high image quality and low power consumption, which is even lower than the previous model.

In AUTO mode, the camera not only automatically selects the appropriate setting for the scene at hand, but it also independently detects and tracks the main subject. In dynamic scenes, the focus really sticks to the subject, making photo and video shooting easy even in these demanding situations.

The X-S20 offers a total of 19 film simulations that give subjects a particularly stylish look, just as if you were loading analog film. Among the choices is the "Nostalgic Neg." mode with high saturation and soft tonality.

Autofocus with artificial intelligence

The camera features a subject detection autofocus based on artificial intelligence. Developed using Deep Learning technology, the algorithm automatically detects and tracks not only people's faces and eyes, but also animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects, and drones^*6 reliably in focus. The photographer can fully concentrate on the moment of capture and the composition of the image. An advanced AF algorithm calculates subject movement in advance, ensuring precise focus with continuous autofocus (AF-C).

Comfortable handling

The X-S20 is exceedingly compact, weighing only 491 grams. It is equipped with a large handgrip that allows a stable and comfortable camera posture.

The high-performance NP-W235 battery allows around 800 photos to be taken, about twice as many as the previous model. The long battery life makes the X-S20 an ideal camera for photo tours and travel.

The internal five-axis image stabilization (IBIS) compensates for unwanted camera movements and brings a sharpness advantage of up to seven EV stops. Even at night, at dusk, or in other low-light situations, freehand shooting is possible.

The X-S20 offers an exceptionally clear and sharp viewfinder image with 2.36 million pixels and 0.62x magnification. The rear touchscreen swivels and rotates to the side, making self-portraits a breeze. The camera is also compatible with the TG-BT1 tripod grip, designed specifically for vlog content production.

Videos in 6.2K/30p

The X-S20 records video in 6.2K/30p 4:2:2 10-bit format. It supports advanced video formats such as recording in 4K/60p or 1080/240p. With F-Log2, a recording mode is available that offers an extended dynamic range of more than 13 stops, providing additional creative potential in video editing.

In combination with a compatible Atomos external HDMI recorder, 12-bit RAW video files can also be recorded and saved as Apple ProRes RAW^*7 at 6.2K or lower quality and frame rates up to 29.97 frames per second. When used with Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G series monitor recorders, raw video can be saved as Blackmagic RAW at up to 6.2K quality and 29.97 frames per second.

Despite its compactness, the camera has two 3.5mm jacks for connecting an external microphone and headphones. There's also a new Vlog mode designed specifically for selfies, which can be quickly activated via the top dial.

The X-S20 can also be used as a webcam. To do so, simply connect the camera to a computer via a USB-C cable; no additional software (such as FUJIFILM X Webcam) is required^.*8 During streaming or online conferencing, movie simulations can be applied to the transmitted image. Camera settings can also be changed during an existing connection to the computer.

FUJINON XF70-300mm F4-5.6 R LM OIS WR - Compact and Lightweight Tele-Zoom Lens for X Series Mirrorless System Cameras
With the FUJINON XF70-300mm F4-5.6 R LM OIS WR, FUJIFILM expands the X Series lens lineup with a particularly lightweight and compact tele-zoom lens. It offers a focal length range of 70 to 300mm (equivalent to 107 to 457mm KB) to image distant or small subjects to full frame. A fast autofocus motor, 5.5-step optical Image Stabilizer, and weather-resistant Body ensure perfect shots in a wide range of photographic situations.

The FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR and FUJINON XF2X TC WR teleconverters extend the range of the new telephoto zoom lens to 600 mm (equivalent to 914 mm KB). Even distant subjects thus appear very close and can be photographed in close-up.

Large zoom range in a handy body
The XF70-300mm F4-5.6 is the ideal choice for photographing subjects from a long distance. People or animals can be brought into the picture in a big way even from a long distance. This makes it possible to take brilliant pictures in many everyday and memorable moments. The optical construction comprises 17 elements in 12 groups, including an aspherical lens and two ED elements to minimize optical aberrations.

Despite its wide focal length range and high image quality, the new telephoto zoom Lens is surprisingly compact and lightweight, measuring 132.5 mm in length, 75 mm in diameter and weighing just 580 grams. The XF70-300mm F4-5.6 telephoto zoom is thus the ideal complement to the standard XF16-80mmF4 R OIS WR zoom. Together, the two handy Lenses offer a comprehensive zoom range of 24mm to 457mm (equivalent to KB), but are much lighter and more compact than equivalent 35mm lenses.

Compatible with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters
The zoom range of the XF70-300mm F4-5.6 can be extended by 1.4x and 2.0x, respectively, with the FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR and FUJINON XF2X TC WR teleconverters without reducing the performance of phase AF. The longest possible focal lengths are thus 630 mm and 914 mm (equivalent to KB), respectively. The speed is reduced accordingly by 1.0 or 2.0 stops.

Image stabilization over 5.5 EV stops
The XF70-300mmF4-5.6's Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) enables sharp handheld shots even at long focal lengths and in low light. This effectively compensates for camera shake caused by slow shutter speeds over 5.5 EV stops.

When the Lens is used on cameras with built-in five-axis image stabilization (IBIS), such as the FUJIFILM X-T4 or FUJIFILM X-S10, even more advanced stabilization is achieved. The combination of the two systems compensates not only for typical camera shake that occurs during photography, but also for linear shifts such as those that occur when the camera is pulled along or panned.

Fast and Quiet Autofocus
The autofocus of the XF70-300mm F4-5.6 is based on a fast and quiet linear motor that works in perfect harmony with the advanced AF system of the X series cameras.

Impressive close-ups
With a close-up distance of just 83 cm, the XF70-300mmF4-5.6 achieves impressive close-ups at a magnification of 1:2 (equivalent to KB). In relation to the APS-C format, a magnification of 0.33x is achieved. This makes the zoom lens ideal for capturing full-frame images of smaller objects, such as flower blossoms. When used with the XF2X TC WR teleconverter, magnification is doubled to 0.66x, allowing macro photography at 1:1 magnification (equivalent to KB).

Weather-sealed design
Ten seals protect the interior from moisture and dust, ensuring that the lens can be used in freezing temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius.
