How can you achieve perfection? With refined details that stand the test of practical use. The outstanding performance of this latest model in the proven lens series ensures that you are always at the forefront.

Improved AF tracking and exposure control, as well as the VR mode SPORT, enable fantastic series of shots. A brand new optical design ensures optimal image quality from edge to edge. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat effectively minimizes ghosting and flare. The integration of a fluorite glass lens in the front lens area saves weight while maintaining excellent optical characteristics and also results in improved balance.

 

Playing in the top league: 1:2.8 telephoto zoom lens

Sports, action, news, reportage: reach a new level with this FX-format Lens. The focal length of 70 to 200 mm (equivalent to 105 to 300 mm when using a Nikon digital SLR camera with DX-format image sensor) covers the most commonly used telephoto range. The high speed of f/2.8 offers great photographic latitude when using selective focus or in low light. The professional zoom already delivers excellent performance at open aperture and the autofocus works extremely fast and reliably. The lower closest focusing distance is 1.1 m, and the maximum magnification has been increased from 1:9.1 to 1:4.8. Photographers working with Nikon's high-resolution image sensors and high-frame-rate SLR cameras are well prepared for any situation with this new telephoto zoom.

Sharp, blur-free, fast: improved image stabilizer (VR)

Keep up with the action without compromising sharpness. Nikon's Image Stabilizer compensates for camera shake, allowing sharp shots with exposure times up to 4 stops longer than without VR.¹ The Image Stabilizer, which reduces shake triggered by camera movement, is activated as soon as the shutter button is pressed all the way down and offers several VR modes. The SPORT VR mode enables a smoother viewfinder image when shooting extremely fast movements or subjects that move unexpectedly. The image stabilizer enables nearly the same frame rate and shutter lag values as when VR is disabled. The lens also detects whether a tripod is being used and automatically adjusts VR modes to Normal and SPORT.

Lens-camera combination precision: outstanding AF tracking and exposure control

The Lens is specifically designed for use with Nikon's fast, professional SLR cameras and responds quickly and precisely to changes in distance. Fast-moving subjects can be reliably tracked, even if they move unexpectedly and at different speeds or approach the camera. And better AF tracking is not the only innovation. Even during fast continuous shooting, the electromagnetic aperture mechanism enables extreme precision and consistency in exposure control of shots. And Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) is the guarantor of extremely fast and quiet autofocus with the ability to access manual focus at any time.

Outstanding integrity: optical precision right to the edge of the frame

This Lens delivers exceptional brilliance and contrast throughout the image field. Compared to the previous model, image quality has improved from edge to edge and vigenetting has been reduced. The new optical design effectively minimizes chromatic aberration and thus color fringing. Distortion is low throughout the zoom range. The Lens features six ED glass lenses, one fluorite lens and one HRI glass lens with an extra high refractive index. The nanocrystal coating ensures brilliant images by reducing ghosting and flare. Thanks to the use of fluorite glass, the lightweight design of the Lens does not come at the expense of image quality.

Perfectly tuned: more operating comfort

When you have to give everything in practical use, these details can be indispensable. With the help of configurable buttons on the barrel, a feature adopted from professional NIKKOR telephoto lenses, optional focus lock or autofocus start can be easily accessed with the thumb. Together with the D5 or D500 cameras, even more options are available for assigning these buttons via individual functions. The zoom and focus rings are reversed compared to the previous model for better balance and handling: The zoom ring is now located directly under your hand at the front of the tube. This allows you to hold the Lens more steady when adjusting the zoom. Thanks to the zoom ring's textured rubber surface, you won't lose your grip and can zoom more easily while shooting intuitively.

Ready to go: lightweight, rugged, reliable

The Lens is designed to withstand the toughest demands of professional photography, and all moving parts of the barrel are extensively protected against dust and water drops. Thanks to the new magnesium alloy of the barrel and the HRI and fluorite lenses, the proven lens is lighter than ever before. The lens features Nikon's fluorine coating, which repels water, dust and dirt. Also, the fluorine coating protects the exterior lens surfaces and reduces the risk of scratching the surface when cleaning the glass. The tripod mount ring is equipped with bearings for smooth switching between portrait and landscape shooting.

Absolutes Highlight
Zunächst einmal war die Bestellung und Abwicklung über Foto-Koch sehr zuverlässig.
Die Lieferzeit von BRD nach Österreich über DHL war geradezu vorbildlich in nur 37 Std.
Dieses Objektiv ist derzeit wohl das BESTE auf dem Markt in diesem Brennweitenbereich.
Nach Recherche gab es da von keiner Seite irgendwelche Kritikpunkte.
Obwohl in einem solchen Bericht beschrieben wurde, es eignet sich weniger als Portraitobjektiv bin ich selbst vom Gegenteil überzeugt. Mit der Brennweite von 120-160 erreicht man
im Verlauf wunderbar weiche Übergänge, wobei Bereiche ausserhalb des Gesichtsfeldes,je nach Wahl der Blende eine leichte Unschärfe zeigen. Das sind Eigenschaften, die sich
schon alleine aus der Brennweite vorteilhaft ergeben.

Die Ränder und Details sind knackig und klar.
Dies hat mich sofort überzeugt.
