Our newly developed lightweight telephoto lens for mirrorless systems - the compact 90mm F2.8 I-Series Lens is versatile and its impressive optical performance makes it ideal for portraits, close-ups and photography at weddings and other events.

New optical performance standards
The 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary boasts outstanding optical imaging performance and a resolving power to match today's high megapixel mirrorless cameras.

The optical construction utilizes the most advanced technology, including five SLD lenses. This reduces the longitudinal color error that cannot be corrected in-camera, resulting in high resolution and clear detail without color fringing. At the same time, a precision-molded blank asphere ensures high contrast transfer of the finest details in the focus zone and a beautiful bokeh without color artifacts in the blurred background - a bokeh that only a full-frame lens can produce.
With a close focusing distance of 50 cm and a maximum magnification of 1:5, macro shots are also possible.

Outstanding I-Series manufacturing quality
All I-Series lenses are all-metal constructions. The precisely manufactured aluminum components not only give the barrel a sleek and elegant finish, but also guarantee outstanding durability, which improves the quality of the entire product. Metal is also used for the internal construction, which provides additional robustness. These high-precision components, manufactured with our innovative metal processing technology, are also used in our cine lenses for professional filmmakers. Among other things, they ensure that the focus ring moves smoothly and that the aperture clicks into place almost silently, and this attention to haptics and ergonomics makes working with the Lens a pleasure.

The 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary has the same maximum diameter of 64 mm and the same 55 mm filter thread as the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary and the 45mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary. This means that these Lens form a natural trio for which you only need one set of filters. With a total weight of just 735 grams*, the wide-angle, normal and lightweight telephoto lenses can cover a wide range of photographic tasks as part of a powerful and compact system.

High-quality coating
An ideal Lens directs the incident light through all the lenses and onto the sensor.

If, on the other hand, some of the light is reflected by individual lenses, not only is the light yield reduced; the reflections within the lens create ghost images and flare spots or reduce the contrast. Such effects would be particularly noticeable in backlit shots.

To prevent this, our 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary uses a Super Multi-Layer Coating (SML), which reduces stray light and ghost images. The result is clear, sharp and high-contrast images without distracting lens flares.

For full-frame cameras
The 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is compatible with mirrorless full-frame cameras with L-mount or Sony E-mount.
A stepper motor is used for fast focusing. The autofocus with automatic eye detection used in newer mirrorless cameras is also supported; this makes precise focusing of portraits, for example, child's play.

The SIGMA I-Series is a series of compact, beautifully designed high-performance lenses for mirrorless camera systems. Part of the collection is the SIGMA 90mm prime Lens, which expands the Contemporary product line. It combines outstanding resolving power with a small body that is perfectly weighted for mirrorless systems.

A brand new 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary Premium Lens expands our growing I-Series product line. It complements the existing fixed focal length I-Series Lens as well as the new 24mm F2, brings superior optical performance, a large F2.8 aperture, all-metal construction and an aperture ring. It was developed from the ground up for mirrorless systems and is perfectly balanced in combination with modern full-frame cameras. Its high resolving power meets all the requirements of the latest camera models with extremely high megapixel counts.

Its versatile telephoto focal length is the longest focal length among the I-Series lenses to date, but the lens remains remarkably light and compact so that it can accompany you everywhere in everyday life. It is optimized in every respect for use in mirrorless systems, focuses quickly and reliably with the autofocus and shines with its optical performance. Its pleasantly soft background bokeh makes it the ideal portrait lens and the close focusing distance of 50 cm allows photographers to get closer to their subject.
