The smallest medium telephoto lens in its class*
The first in the series is the standard 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens and the second
the wide-angle 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens. The third member is now this smallest medium telephoto lens in its class: the 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. Like the other lenses in the Contemporary product line, this Lens is compact, lightweight and yet boasts exceptional image quality. Thanks to SIGMA's breakthrough technologies, this Lens offers exactly the level of bokeh and superb speed that can be expected from F1.4 lenses in the mid-telephoto range. This Lens completes the fast series that now consists of portable wide-angle, standard
and telephoto lenses.
*The smallest in its class among F1.4 lenses in the medium telephoto range for mirrorless APS-C cameras.

About the Lens Designation
SIGMA Lenses with the "DC" designation are high-performance lenses designed specifically for digital cameras with shooting sensors up to APS-C format. When used on cameras with larger sensors, vignetting occurs. Here, photographers are recommended to adjust the sensor format for optimal image results, as far as the camera allows. SIGMA Lenses with the "DN" designation are designed to provide superior performance on mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras with a short flange focal length.

1. Impressively compact design with image quality that rivals SIGMA's Art product line.
To achieve such a compact design, the lens construction has been matched to the capabilities of the camera function to best correct vignetting and distortion. In addition, axial chromatic aberrations, which are difficult to correct during image processing, are efficiently corrected by using an SLD glass element. This Lens features a compact and lightweight design combined with outstanding image quality.

2. The only line of three F1.4 AF lenses for Sony mirrorless E-mount cameras with APS-C format sensors
The Lens benefits from an F1.4 open aperture to deliver effective bokeh and amazing brightness even on APS-C format cameras, which tend to have less pronounced bokeh compared to full-frame systems. The compact and lightweight body is perfect for everyday use and shooting a wide variety of scenes, from portraits to candid shots to night photography.

3. Smooth AF for Video Shooting
Combining an optical setup for AF video shooting with the use of a stepper motor enables smooth and quiet autofocus. The Lens is also compatible with Sony E-mount Fast Hybrid AF and provides precise AF tracking. Using the cameras' Face Detection or Eye AF features, focus remains continuously on the face or eye, even if the subject moves during shooting.

DG Lenses
SIGMA's DG lenses are designed for demanding use on digital cameras with sensors up to 24x36mm format (colloquially known as full-frame). By using state-of-the-art coating processes, ghosting caused by reflections on the sensor surface is successfully eliminated, while at the same time achieving balanced colors and superior optical performance.
Since these Lenses also illuminate the analog film format 24x36mm, their use is also possible on some suitable analog cameras, although we ask you to consult us on a case-by-case basis.

DN Lenses
High performance lenses designed exclusively for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The latest technology in lens development ensures high optical performance, compact design and quiet autofocus. Excellent telecentricity guarantees sharp and high-resolution image quality across the entire image plane.

Gute Wahl
Sehr gute Objektiv an der a6700 Bildqualität ist sehr gut. Bokeh ist ein Traum. Lediglich der etwas langsame Autofocus bringt bei bewegten Motiven, Kinder, Haustiere, etc. eine gewissen Anzahl an unscharfen Bildern. Daher nutze ich dabei die Serienbildfunktion und da kommt immer etwas gutes dabei heraus.

Klasse Bildqualität
56mm MFT, etwa 112mm Vollformat äquivalent, die Brennweite ist nicht für jeden etwas. Die Bildqualität hält locker mit dem der ART Serie mit. Sehr wertig verarbeitet, Bajonett aus Metall, die MFT Version hat auch einen kleinen Gummiring am Bajonett. Von Bildrand zu Bildrand, auch mit offener Blende, Scharf. Super schönes, weiches Bokeh. Wer allerdings denselben Bokeh wie beim F1.4 Vollformat bei MFT erwartet, der wird getäuscht sein, dafür müsste man sich ein F0,75 für MFT kaufen oder ein Vollformat mit dem Sigma 105 1.4 Art :-) . Ich bin jedenfalls mit dem Sigma 56mm super zufrieden und werde mir sehr wahrscheinlich noch den 16mm zulegen.
