Simple, clear and completely new user interface
The user interface of the Sigma BF has a completely new information structure compared to conventional digital cameras: The most important shooting-related settings are located on the Live View screen, secondary settings in the optional menu and control functions and detailed settings in the system menu.

Shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation and color mode as well as other important shooting-related elements can be set simply with a tap of the finger. In combination with the automatic setting, the functions of the general shooting mode dial are also covered.

Clear live view and status monitor
The BF's standard live view screen shows only the minimum information required and can also be set to show no information at all. As the currently active setting is displayed on the status monitor, the photographer can concentrate solely on the composition and the subject on the Live View screen.

Minimalist controls and functional feel
Three buttons, a setting dial, the shutter release and the power button are all the camera's controls. The BF is the first mirrorless camera* in which the control dial, the center button, the option button and the playback button provide haptic feedback without being subject to physical wear and tear. The buttons can be operated precisely and comfortably.

Unibody construction
The Sigma BF is the first camera in history* to have a true unibody with unprecedented rigidity. Each camera is machined from a single solid block of aluminum in a process that takes about seven hours. The pleasant weight of the seamless, reliable all-metal body harmonizes perfectly with any attached Lens.

Internal memory
The Sigma BF has 230 GB of internal memory, which can store more than 14,000 JPEG files, 4,300 uncompressed RAW images or 2.5 hours of video footage in the highest quality. The USB-C port offers fast data transfer and charging speed.

Different color modes
Thirteen different color modes are available on the BF to open up new avenues of creativity. The modes range from unique options such as Teal and Orange, Powder Blue and Warm Gold to creative and versatile options such as Rich and Calm.

Advanced autofocus
The Sigma BF's hybrid autofocus system, which combines phase and contrast detection, uses state-of-the-art algorithms to capture subjects accurately and reliably. In subject detection mode, not only people but also dogs and cats can be recognized

Video recording (6K, L-Log)
The BF supports high-resolution 6K and L-Log recording, enabling video productions that take advantage of the wide dynamic range of this full-frame camera.

The new standard: The 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary
The 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary delivers the highest optical performance at an aperture of F2 with a compact lens body that is perfectly designed for mirrorless systems.

The longitudinal color aberrations, a point of particular importance in a fast Lens, are optimally corrected with SLD glass. Sophisticated placement of lens elements with a high refractive index also ensures effective correction of various types of aberration. The use of three high-precision, blank-molded aspherical glass lenses also contributes to the exceptional performance. These elements correct spherical aberration and field curvature and also suppress reflections and the fluctuation of aberration at the time of focusing. And yet the amount of glass used has been kept to a minimum.

The lens design also stands for very good sagittal coma correction, so that details can be captured so finely that it can also be used for astrophotography.

Exceptional build quality
All I-Series lenses have an all-metal construction.
The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but also provide excellent durability that enhances the quality of the entire product. Metals are also used for the internal construction, which harmonize with the operating rings for added robustness. These high-precision components, which are manufactured using our latest metal processing technology and are also used in the cine lens range for professional filmmakers, offer an exquisite feel and barely perceptible operating noise.

The cover ring between the focus and aperture rings is manufactured to fit precisely, as is the case with the rear cylinders of the Art line. This cover provides a good grip when attaching or removing the lens.

High-quality coating
An ideal lens directs the incident light through all the lenses and onto the sensor.
If, on the other hand, some of the light is reflected by individual lenses, not only is the light yield reduced; the reflections within the lens create ghost images and flare spots or reduce the contrast. Such effects would be particularly noticeable in backlit shots.
To prevent this, our 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary uses a Super Multi-Layer Coating (SML), which reduces stray light and ghost images. The result is clear, sharp and high-contrast images without distracting lens flares.

For full-frame cameras
The 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is compatible with mirrorless full-frame cameras with L-mount or Sony E-mount.
A stepper motor is used for fast focusing. The autofocus with automatic eye detection used in newer mirrorless cameras is also supported, making precise focusing of portraits, for example, child's play.
