Alexander Geh in an interview about the Olympus flagship E-M1X
At the presentation of the new Olympus E-M1X in Hamburg, we were able to gather some opinions and experiences from photographers who have already worked with the new MFT flagship. One of them is Alexander Geh, who we would like to introduce to you in the third part If you are more interested in the technical side of the Olympus E-M1X then take a look at our Foto Koch Hands On: Hands On with Video

Alexander Geh
I have been a nature photographer for many years, with a focus on landscape photography and also wildlife photography, especially in areas that are not easy to reach.
Why did you choose the Olympus system?
After using a full-frame SLR system for many years, I made the decision to focus on the Olympus system almost three years ago and have come to love and appreciate the lower weight and mobility in particular.
What is so special about the EM1X?
In December I was on Madeira with the new camera, the E-M1X, to test the new functions and can say with full conviction: with this camera we now have a tool that no longer has to hide from any full-frame system for professional nature photography. On the contrary, I mainly did landscape photography there in difficult lighting conditions, with the new handheld High-Res-Shot function, which allows you to take pictures with 50 megapixel resolution at up to 1/30, or, if you work carefully, 1/15 second. Handheld, without a tripod, and I don't think you can do that with any other system. The image results that we see here in the exhibition have completely surprised me in terms of the level of detail, the quality and also the significantly improved noise reduction thanks to the newer image processing in the camera.

What is the GTD all about?
The GDT is the largest nature photographers' association in Europe and every year a photographer with a picture is chosen from the ranks of GDT members, which is a total of around 1200 members, and I had the great honor of being there in 2016. At the GDT, we attach great importance to ensuring that photography is of a high quality and meets certain standards. It is also important to us that we are authentic with our images, that we photograph nature as it is and, above all, that we support projects with our images that aim to create more awareness for the protection of nature. The world doesn't need us, but we need the world. The GDT supports many such projects and it's great to be part of them, and of course an award like this is also a lot of fun
What is your verdict on the new flagship?
To summarize, the image quality of the camera is definitely on a par with professional full-frame systems and offers functions that no other system has. In my opinion, Olympus has really succeeded here with the robustness and the design for professional photography. Go to Andreas' website: nature-photoarts.com
