Which binoculars for your next safari?

Are you a fan of safaris in Africa, India or South America? No matter where you're going on your next safari, if you're not traveling with your safari photography equipment, then perhaps you'll be traveling with binoculars that are perfect for your safari!

The most important things in a nutshell

Don't have much time left before your flight? We give you the most important factors for the perfect safari binoculars right before all the details:

  • Magnification: 8 to 10: 8x30, 8x42, 10x32, 10x42
  • Objective lens diameter: 30-42mm
  • Field of view: Wide field of view of over 110 m (at 1000 m)
  • Weight: Under 800 g
  • Features: Waterproof, anti-fog, robust body

Compactness and weight

If you are going on a safari, you are usually not going on your own doorstep and will rarely have a lot of space in your suitcase because, as we know, they have a weight limit. For this reason, and because carrying comfort continues to decrease, a weight of around 800g or less makes sense.

How close can it be? The magnification

Animals are unpredictable, and so is their location. An animal can be right in front of you or at the end of the horizon, but in the wilderness of Africa the temperatures are usually very hot. The flickering heat makes it difficult to see animals further away. The magnification of the binoculars should be between 8 and 10, as this provides a not too shaky image when observing the animals sighted.

How large should the lens diameter be for the safari?

The lens diameter determines how well you can observe the animals into the twilight. With a diameter of 30-42mm, the binoculars offer a good balance between contrast and good visibility in twilight situations.

  • compact and robust
  • perfect for hobby and occasional adventurers
  • Multi-coated lenses and prisms
  • adjustable rubber eyecups
  • Field of view from 152m to 1000m

What about the field of view?

You often observe over a large open area, so a field of view of at least 110m at 1000 meters helps. This also helps you to track moving herds more easily when observing and to experience great unique moments.

Come by +amp; try them out

In our store in Düsseldorf city center we offer a wide range of binoculars, if we don't have a binocular in the showroom you can simply talk to our service staff and have them give you the binoculars you want to try out. (As long as they are in stock!)

Why should my binoculars be robust?

The desert is merciless! You can also see that at the Burning Man Festival. Fine sand creeps in almost everywhere, which is why your binoculars should be as well coated as possible. This is usually measured in terms of the moisture coating, but no moisture should penetrate your binoculars.

Capture your observations on safari!

As a specialist photo retailer, we know how important memories are with binoculars and a smartphone. (Yes, we really say that, because photographers now get a shiver down their spine) There are adapters for binoculars with which the smartphone can be attached to the binoculars, so you have a powerful telephoto lens for your own smartphone and can still capture the moment. Tough wildlife photographers also have a suitable telephoto lens in their rucksack.

Quick handling

Everyone is different, so your binoculars need to be adjusted to suit you. If you wear glasses, you need to make sure that your binoculars can compensate for your diopters so that you can use them without your glasses. Many binoculars allow you to focus the image you see through the binoculars using a focusing wheel.
