Lens basics - technical data on the lens

In the first video of the video series on camera lenses, the photo trainer starts with the specifications on lenses. Focal length, lens speed, filter diameter, minimum focusing distance, autofocus motor, image stabilizer and image circle. If you want to buy a new lens, the lens mount is the most important criterion. The second important feature to look out for is the image circle. This should match the sensor size of your camera. Lenses for Full-frame cameras with full-frame sensors are larger than lenses built for smaller sensors - such as APS-C. A larger image circle is usually not a problem. If the image circle is smaller than the sensor area, only a section is used and you often get dark image corners and black edges. In the video, Christian Laxander shows you the different bayonet connections and sensor sizes.

Which lens is right for you?

The following videos are about how to find the right lens for you and explain what technical terms such as focal length and speed actually mean. Cristian also shows image comparisons and interviews with professionals. Christian looks at different manufacturers - lenses from different brands - and shows special lenses, such as Tilt shift lenses. From modern lenses to lenses from the analog era, everything is included.

Using third-party lenses - here's how!

For newcomers to the Sony system, it is often interesting to know whether third-party lenses from Nikon or Canon can also be adapted. The video shows which Adapters this is possible with, so that your system change does not become too expensive.
