"Details" photo competition - these are the winners
The last photo competition was all about 'Details'. Your many creative realizations of the theme impressively proved that this topic offers a lot of interesting scope!
We received over 4000 pictures! We would like to say a big "Thank you!" to all 1,300 participants! That was really outstanding. We would like to congratulate the winners and say THANK YOU!
1. Place Oliver SimonThe winning photo
We received many macro shots of birds and other animals on the subject of details. Oliver Simon captured a very special bird, the Anna's hummingbird, which took first place in our photo competition!
The photo was taken during a trip to the USA near Los Angeles, nature and bird photographer Oliver told us:
"I was hoping to be lucky enough to get a hummingbird in front of my lens in the USA.
The metallic iridescent plumage immediately fascinated me and I really wanted to capture it in detail. I think I succeeded quite well with this picture."
A really successful winning photo, congratulations!

2. Place Jonas Beck2nd place - In the tall grass
At first glance, this photo may not seem rich in detail at all, but it still captivated our team. The high seat stands out as a detail in the picture, surrounded by a sea of tall grass that brings a beautiful structure to the picture, as do the clouds that cover the sun and provide beautiful color transitions.
A picture that may seem reduced, but is still full of details, congratulations!

3. Place Stefanie Grieser3rd place - Morning dew
This macro image by Stefanie Grieser has made it to 3rd place. Photography has been her hobby for 3 years and one of her favorite subjects is ladybugs.
This picture radiates a particularly melancholy and calm mood, just like one of Stefanie's favorite times to take pictures:
"When nature is covered with dew or raindrops, it always gives it a special glow. That's why I like to go out with my camera after the rain or on fresh mornings. This picture was taken after a short downpour in my garden this year. "
Congratulations!

4. Christof Schmitz4. Place - Colors
Christof Schmitz submitted a very special picture. The unusual top view of empty graffiti cans has stayed with our team for a while.
Christof is 61 years old and has been a hobby photographer for 30 years now and told us the following:
"When our son moved out of the house, he left us a collection of spray cans. He is an occasional graffiti artist. Before I took the cans to the disposal point, I placed them on a garden table and photographed them vertically from a ladder. I liked the texture of the different cans. I ended up blacking out the background. "

5. Place Stefanie Lehne5th place - In the middle
This detail shot by Stefanie Lehne made it to fifth place in the photo competition. She explains how the picture was taken: "
This macro shot shows part of the meadow box beard. Its inflorescence looks like a giant dandelion.
I am particularly fascinated by its delicate structures. That's why I took a whole series of them in the summer.
From all sides, with different lighting moods and backgrounds.
Again and again I tried to capture new or unusual angles to emphasize these fine structures and immortalize them in a special picture. I wanted it to stand out from the pictures I already had. This resulted in many
different photos.
I took this photo from below and it looks as if I had crawled into the middle of it. That's why this photo is something special for me.
The sky and the natural backlight were my light source.
I took the photo with the Canon RF 100 mm F2.8 Macro."
6. Place Dirk Neff6th place - A completely different cathedral
Dirk Neff came sixth in the photo competition with this picture. He explains how the picture was taken:
"The picture was taken during a photo walk in Cologne's Rheinauhafen. I discovered a sculpture through the opening of which I captured the spires of Cologne Cathedral. The striking triangular shape in the foreground harmonizes with the characteristic spires of the cathedral and creates an exciting composition. I have been a passionate amateur photographer for around 30 years."
