Landscape" photo contest - these are the winners
The last photo contest was all about landscapes. As part of the Sony "Choice for Landscape" campaign, we asked you to share your most beautiful landscape photos with us and show the diversity of our green Mother Earth.
We received over 3,000 pictures! We would like to say a big "Thank you!" to all 1,050 participants! That was truly outstanding. We would like to congratulate the winners and say THANK YOU!
1. Place Stephan MirschThe winning photo - The lone hiker
We received many impressive photos of mountains on the subject of landscape. Stephan Mirsch captured a very special photo and took first place in our photo competition!
Stephan is a landscape photographer from Hamburg and told us the following about how this photo was taken:
"The picture was taken during my last photo trip to the Aiguille du Midi. The weather was perfect and I had the opportunity to observe skiers and mountain hikers as the clouds slowly drifted past the mountain peaks. They were mostly groups of people, but I waited for the situation where only one person was walking along the path so that I could isolate the one person in the picture and thus show the relationship between people and nature."

2. Place Manoj Galle2nd place - Force of nature
During his last trip to Iceland, Manoj Galle was able to capture the steadily diminishing eruption of a volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula, one of many that erupted in December 2023.
This photo shows how beautiful but also how dangerous nature can sometimes be and that nothing is permanent.
He told us about the creation of this picture:
"I found the structures in the lava flows and how they run almost symmetrically towards the crater particularly fascinating.
The whole thing is a vertical panorama, with the wide-angle camera of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and the most challenging thing is of course to find the point where the drone doesn't get damaged by the heat, as you can't stay in one place for too long, but at the same time you have to fly relatively low. "

3. Place Raoul Hartmann3rd place - Silent morning hour
This picture of a mystical forest by Raoul Hartmann made it to 3rd place.
He told us the following about how the photo was taken:
"This shot was taken on a rainy July morning in the southern Black Forest, not far from Freiburg im Breisgau. It was one of those days when the clouds hang low in the mountains and there is only a faint hope of a few rays of sunshine - the kind of weather when many people prefer to stay in bed. But for me, days like this are like a fire in my heart. When the forest is shrouded in mist and drenched in moisture, a special silence descends, allowing me to experience nature with all my senses in an incomparable way. The sounds are muffled, the ground smells earthy and fresh, and every movement seems to have a deeper meaning.
And sometimes, when happiness is with you, the sun breaks through the clouds for a brief moment. This moment, fleeting as it may be, transforms the landscape into something mystical - as if nature itself holds its breath for a moment. Then the colors glow more intensely, the mist glistens in the soft light, and the scenery appears as if from another world. Moments like these remind me why I love these seemingly gray days so much. They are full of magic, hidden in the silence and the play of light and shadow."

Conclusion of the Landscape photo contest
With the pictures of the 3 winners, we can unfortunately only present you with a small selection of the unique and interesting variations of the diverse landscapes you have presented to us. Many pictures only just failed to make it into the top 3 places because there was too much to choose from.
