Top 5 travel tripods

Yes, the subject of tripods on vacation - a controversial topic. It's funny, really, since most people take more photos while traveling than ever before. So when should you use a tripod, if not on vacation? Sure, it takes up space and you have to lug it around, but there are very light and small alternatives that make you forget this excuse. After all, you get incredibly many different motifs in front of the lens and can try out new genres. Especially on vacation, you should find peace and not quickly rattle off the photos. With a tripod, you have to take your time and you can consciously photograph a motif. The composition of the picture is well thought out and the elements are perfectly arranged. In addition, the tripod helps in situations that require longer exposure times - would you like to capture the Milky Way, the water in combination with a Gray filter or blur the people on St. Mark's Square.

Overview of the top 5 tripods for the next trip / travel photography

#1 You can really take this with you: Joby GorillaPod

Let's start with a very small and flexible companion that really takes up hardly any space. The Joby GorillaPod tripods have movable legs and can thus be set up on any imaginable surface and even clipped to some objects like branches or lanterns. Thus, it is the ideal option for those who only need a tripod once in a while and wouldn't actually take one with them. At the very least, this is what you should take with you if you think you don't really need a tripod on vacation.

For compact cameras: Joby Gorillapod Original
For system cameras and smaller SLR variants: Joby GorillaPod Stand black-charcoal 3K
For cameras up to 5 kg: Joby GorillaPod Stand black-charcoal 5K

#5 Peak Design Travel Tripod

An innovation in travel tripods! Compactness and a system for the tripods. Peak Design has developed a space-saving version that supports up to 9 KG and allows you to work at ground level. If the clamps on the tripod legs loosen, then Peak Design also provides the appropriate tool directly on the tripod.

Carbon or aluminum for the travel tripod?

This question cannot be answered across the board, because a lightweight tripod is basically a relief for the luggage, even if the hand luggage is usually not weighed. Nevertheless, one should not exhaust this. However, when it comes to pure photography, a lightweight tripod can also turn out to be a disadvantage. A lightweight tripod offers less support and security for the camera. Carbon tripods are usually not designed for heavy weights. An aluminum tripod is a little heavier than a carbon tripod, so it's a little more stable and offers more security and less potential for camera shake due to outside influences like wind.
