19 | 100 Street Photography

from the series 100 photos - 100 stories

Hobby photographer Christian Stops started his "street photography" in 2013, long before he even came into contact with the term. He took the matter more seriously and posted his pictures on Flickr, an online photography site that he still maintains today.
Here's what he writes about his photography:
"My street photography takes place a lot at the airport, as I live very close by. I also like to go to train or subway stations...anywhere where people are waiting or at least staying for a while. I also took the picture of the girl with her chin resting on the back of the waiting bench and looking full of expectation towards the arriving passengers at the airport. I'm usually rather shy and don't push the camera in people's faces without pain. However, this was one of those moments where I knew, okay...this is the picture...if I don't take this with me, I'll be annoyed for two weeks! So I got as close to the side of the bench as I could to get the leading lines into the picture in the best possible way. To be honest, I didn't notice the pretty bokeh in the background until later. For me, it was this look full of longing and joyful anticipation. I imagined that she was waiting for her boyfriend or a best friend or something and I put everything into those eyes, that look! The photo is already a few years old, but it's still one of my absolute favorites!
