The sensor and autofocus performance of the Canon R7

The R7's APS-C sensor is equipped with a 5-axis IBIS image stabilizer that provides up to 7 stops of optical image stabilization when used with an IS Lens.

Wildlife, sports and action photographers will especially benefit from the camera's sensor size, and with the crop factor of 1.6, these photographers will gain focal length, especially at telephoto. This combined with the Canon EOS R3's autofocus and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II sensor with Deep- Learning technology provides 100% sensor coverage, allowing you to never miss a moment. Even in low-light situations, the R7's autofocus performs very well at up to -5 EV / EV. The DIGIC X processor helps this camera to top performance.

With its 32.5 megapixels, this sensor provides the sweet spot between exposure performance and ISO performance needed in many applications. The R7's scene recognition covers many areas. For example, the camera recognizes people, animals and vehicles, among others. The scene recognition can also distinguish even more specifically, for example, birds, cats or dogs. It can also recognize a wide variety of vehicles during motor sports activities. In the case of cars or motorcycles, the APS-C camera from Canon can distinguish whether it is a closed cockpit or the helmet of the driver.

It has a maximum ISO of 32,000 in photo mode, with a maximum of 12,800 in video mode.

APS-C system camera with high continuous shooting speed

Users who need the crop factor of APS-C cameras for their work will make the best catch with this camera not only in terms of focal length, but also in terms of continuous shooting speed. Since the hybrid shutter works both mechanically and electronically, the camera can shoot either 15 frames or 30 frames per second.

Video functions of the Canon EOS R7

Here, the EOS R7 offers up to 4K resolution at 60fps, with support for the Canon Log 3 format. Swivel display

The Canon R7 features a swivel and tilt touch display, which has an anti-dirt coating and a size of 2.95 inches. The touch display also allows you to use some functions, such as triggering the shutter or zooming in on the AF point selection, as well as setting for control.

The R7's electronic viewfinder

The electronic viewfinder of the Canon R7 is blackout-free with its 120 frames per second and also offers OVF simulation here. As with the R3, this optical viewfinder simulation offers a more natural representation of the image in the viewfinder - However, the function must be switched on in the camera's settings beforehand for this.

Body and button design

The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art offers the convenience of a zoom lens with a constant aperture of F1.8 over the entire zoom range. Thanks to the large aperture, comparable to a fixed focal length, the Lens is suitable for low-light environments such as interiors and night shots, as well as for shots with strong bokeh.

Outstanding optical performance
The optical design, realized by state-of-the-art design and manufacturing technologies, including high-precision aspherical lenses, achieves outstanding optical performance. By correcting axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma, high resolution is achieved even at F1.8 aperture - the finest details and textures are clearly reproduced.

Flexible framing possible
The zoom range of the Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art has been extended compared to the predecessor model Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art and covers 25.5-60 mm in 35 mm format.* From wide-angle table shots to portraits with a full telephoto angle of view - users can take full advantage of the expressive power of the F1.8 aperture without having to change the Lens.

Minimized flare and ghosting
By using advanced simulation technology and Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating, flare and ghosting are largely eliminated - for rich, high-contrast images in all conditions.

Practical and stable internal zoom
Thanks to the internal zoom mechanism, the overall length of the Lens remains constant when zooming or focusing. This makes handling easier and ensures high stability - both for hand-held, tripod and gimbal shots. It also offers better protection against dust and water.

More mobility thanks to compact, lightweight design
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art is over 30 % lighter than its predecessor (Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art) and has a filter thread of only 67 mm. Despite its large aperture, it is surprisingly portable. This allows the expressive power of F1.8 to be used with a compact APS-C system - ideal for travel, everyday photography and video applications where mobility is crucial.

Dust and splash-proof construction / water and oil-repellent coating
In addition to the weather-resistant construction, the front lens surface has a water and oil-repellent coating. The Lens can therefore be used safely even in harsh outdoor environments.
*The product is dust and splash-proof, but not waterproof. Therefore, avoid heavy exposure to water - water inside can cause serious damage and make repairs impossible.

Two AFL buttons
Equipped with two AFL buttons*¹*² that can be assigned any function from the camera menu. Thanks to their positioning on the side and top, they are easy to operate in both portrait and landscape format.

*² The FUJIFILM X version has an AF function button that can be used to switch between AF lock and AF mode.

HLA-controlled high-speed AF
The use of the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) enables quiet, fast and precise autofocus. The smooth, stable focus is ideal for photos, but also for one-man productions with a gimbal or when vlogging.

Minimal focus breathing
Focus breathing is suppressed - this keeps image angle changes to a minimum when focusing. This results in smooth, natural focus shifts during video recordings.

Aperture ring with various functions
Equipped with an aperture ring*¹ for intuitive aperture control. The click switch can be deactivated for video recordings - for smooth, quiet aperture changes. An additional lock switch*² prevents unintentional adjustments.
*¹ The Canon RF version has a control ring instead - no click or lock switch.
*² When activated in position A, the ring is fixed there. In other positions it can only be adjusted in the range from open to minimum aperture.

HLA (High-response Linear Actuator)
Sigma's own linear motor. Moves the focus group directly, without gearing - for quiet, precise autofocus.

Internal zoom
The zoom range is realized internally - the length of the Lens remains constant. This improves balance and stability. The front lens does not rotate - ideal for polarizing filters.

Water and oil-repellent coating
The front lens is coated so that water simply rolls off and grease hardly sticks - ideal for difficult environments. Cleaning is made easier.
