Familiar retro charm and state-of-the-art technology are once again combined by Fujifilm in the new X-T5. As usual, the Fujifilm X-T5 also offers an APS-C sensor with the popular film simulation, which allows 19 different simulations.

The X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor of the Fujifilm X-T5

The new sensor of Fujifilm offers not only strong 40.2 MP but sensor already made its way into the Fujifilm X-H2. Thus, this stacked sensor is able to record up to 8K video and offers a particularly high continuous shooting of 40 frames per second. The high-resolution CMOS sensor does not require an optical low-pass filter, which, among other things, counteracts moiré. This is because the special arrangement of the pixels on the sensor helps to reduce the formation of moiré.

This new pixel structure also contributes to the sensor's ability to store a larger amount of light, so the sensor's default sensitivity is now ISO 125. The X-T5 offers a very fast shutter speed of 1/180.00 with electronic shutter. This shutter speed makes it possible to work with an open aperture in almost any situation, allowing plenty of room for creativity.

The ISO range of the Fujifilm X-T5 goes from 125-12,800 and up to 51,200 in the extended range, so there's nothing standing in the way of your next nighttime photo session.

Not only does the X-T5's sensor have a lot going for it, but it also has an IBIS, which provides the sensor with five-axis stabilization. This IBIS offers up to 7 stops of image stabilization. With this, it is not only possible to film very well, but also to photograph well in darker situations.

Another exciting feature of the Fujifilm X-T5 is the Pixel Shift Multishot with which it is possible to shoot 160 MP shots that are ultra-high resolution and thanks to the built-in IBIS also easily possible. When using the function, 20 pictures are taken. During these 20 shots, the IBIS shifts the sensor by half a pixel each to capture every red, green and blue pixel. This creates a perfect image without demosicing artifacts or color errors.

The Fuji X-T5's autofocus performance

The autofocus is not only very fast and once again more reliable thanks to the new X Processor 5, but it has also made some advances in subject detection. The subject detection captures many different subjects such as: Birds, cars, bikes, airplanes, bicycles, motorcycles or people reliably and keeps them in focus. Low light autofocus also offers good & reliable performance down to -7 EV with phase autofocus. Overall, the X-T5 has received some more improved autofocus algorithms and offers very high reliability around portrait, landscape & co.

The new X-Processor 5

The new X-Processor 5 built into the X-T5 is twice as fast as its predecessor, the X-Processor 4 not only offers reduced power consumption, allowing you to take even more shots. In addition, the X-Processor 5 offers HEIF support and improved AI-assisted signal processing.

Retro nostalgia with film simulation

The X-T5 offers 19 digital film simulation modes that reproduce the distinctive look of classic Fujifilm photographic films developed for over 85 years. These modes capture the distinctive hues, shades and nuances for which Fujifilm is so famous, adding a unique touch to your photography.

Video features of the X-T5

Up to 6.2k at 30 frames per second: that's what the Fuji X-T5 gives you at 4:2:2 and 10-bit color depth. Want to shoot 4K footage? The X-T5 films up to 59.94p at 4K and in Full HD up to 240p. For those who value RAW format, external RAW recording is available via HDMI. Also in the camera is the F-Log2 format, which offers up to 13+ stops of dynamic range.

The retro nostalgia of the Fujifilm X-T5 not only offers an excellent feel and a reminder of analog times, but also Power Delivery via USB-C and a Micro HDMI port in addition to two built-in UHS-II SD card slots. Foto-zentrierte Kamera mit nostalgischem Charme
Ich war auf der Suche nach einer kleinen Zweitkamera. Komme von einer Nikon D800 und D7200 und mache im Urlaub viel zu oft Bilder mit dem Smartphone, weil die großen Geräte dann doch oft zu unbequem sind. Ich wollte etwas was zwischen den beiden Extremen sitzt. Hab mir die Leica D-Lux 8 und Fuji X-T50 angeschaut. Bin schnell bei der Fuji X-T50 gelandet, weil die Auflösung des Liveviews bei der Leica leider deutlich hinter der Auflösung des Sucherdisplays zurückbleibt und die Haptik sich mehr nach Kompaktkamera anfühlt vor allem durch das plastikhafte Zoom. Allerdings war ich noch scharf auf den größeren Sucher der X-T5. Das Gehäuse ist nur minimal größer und bietet den deutlich besseren Griff. Ansonsten ist alles (was für die Fotos wichtig ist) weitestgehend gleich. Ich würde die X-T5 nur empfehlen, wenn man den großen Sucher möchte, oder mehr Griff braucht (selbst an der X-T5 würde ich bei großen Objektiven einen zusätzlichen Griff empfehlen) oder mehr Akkulaufzeit (1,5-2x), oder unbedingt ein ISO-Rad anstelle der Filmsimulation will. Ansonsten ist die X-T50 eine doch spürbar kompaktere Variante, die technisch gesehen weitestgehend identisch ist.
Fazit: Trotz einiger Detail-Schwächen (Menü & Konfiguration, AF Tracking, Manual Fokus-by-wire), die es aber bei jedem Hersteller irgendwo gibt, bietet Fuji ein super APS-C System für Enthusiasten an. Die Linsen sind im Vergleich zum Vollformat deutlich kleiner und auch etwas günstiger. Die einzelnen Modelle unterscheiden sich tatsächlich hinsichtlich ihre Nutzungsart und sind nicht nur unterschiedlich abgespeckte Varianten derselben Kamera. Für Ex-DSLR Fotografen, die sich vom Charme und Look analoger Kameras inspiriert fühlen, ist die X-T5 sehr zu empfehlen. Wer den "Analog-Spleen" nicht so braucht und eine praktischere Bedienung a lá DSLR mag, greift lieber zur X-H Serie.

Liebe auf den 2. Blick
Ich hatte mir erst vor kurzem das TTArtisan 25mm f2 für meine Fuji X-T5 gekauft... kann man nix falsch machen. Die schwachen Bildecken haben sich dann aber doch immer als "Kompakt, aber Kompromiss" angefühlt. Hab dann aus Neugier das Voigtländer für den 8-fachen Preis bestellt zum Testen. Innerlich hat sich alles gesträubt, also sind zunächst alle Nachteile hervorgestochen:
- Fokus ist ultra leichtgängig und verstellt sich schnell, wenn man nicht aufpasst.
- Fokus-Tab ist nachteilig, wenn man ihn erst suchen muss oder man die Kamera in schwierigen Winkeln hält.
- Ich finde das Objektiv sieht nicht so sexy aus, wie das TTArtisan 25mm. Die Mini-Frontlinse und die flache Front sehen doof aus.
Dann die ersten Optiktests gemacht. Ja... gut, ist schon besser, vor allem in den Ecken, kein Vergleich. Dann die Sonnenblende aufgeschraubt... ach, so sieht es ganz cool aus. Manuellen Fokus genauer ausprobiert... okay, von unendlich bis 0,5m bewegt sich Fokus-Tab nur auf der "rechten Seite" des Objektivs und kann mit dem Zeigefinger bedient werden, bevor man zum Daumen wechseln muss, von 0,5m bis runter zu 0,25m. Je mehr ich es nutzte, desto mehr wurde mit schmerzlich klar, dass ich es behalten muss. Hier die Vorteile, die die anfänglichen Nachteile für mich überwiegen:
- Bildqualität offenblendig in den Ecken im Vergleich zum TTArtisan 25mm f2 deutlich besser
- Bei Offenblende haben die Bilder noch einen leichten Glow Effekt, vor allem in Richtung Rand. Bei f2.8 nur noch halb so stark. Bei f4 ist das Bild sehr knackig
- Bildqualität im Nahfeld ist gut nutzbar und wird beim Abblenden sehr stark
- Der MF Anschlag bei unendlich ist auch tatsächlich bei unendlich, was bei Landschaft, Architektur und Nachfotografie ein Segen ist.
- Die Kontakte haben den Vorteil, dass man für später noch die EXIF Daten hat und im Kamera Menü nicht ständig die Brennweite für den IBIS anpassen muss. Außerdem gibt es Profile für die Vignette und Verzeichnungskorrektur (die ich meist aber deaktiviere). Größter Vorteil der Kontakte aber ist für mich, dass die Kamera weiß, welche Blende eingestellt ist und somit die automatische Sucherhelligkeit korrekt einstellen kann. Ohne Kontakte weiß die Kamera nicht, wie hell die Umgebung ist, weil sie denkt, das Objektiv hat Blende f0 und interpretiert anhand dessen die Helligkeit. Wenn ich z.B. das TTArtisan auf Blende 8 abblende ist das Sucherbild aber viel zu dunkel und kontrastarm
- Sonnensterne gibt es dank der sehr geraden Blendenlamellen schon ab f2.2 (!), allerdings primär in der Bildmitte, wo die mechanische Vignettierung noch nicht einsetzt und die "Blende abrundet"
Hier noch ein paar Nachteile, die mir erst später aufgefallen sind:
- Der Fokusring ist so leichtgängig, dass die Vibration beim Verstellen der Blende den Ring in Bewegung versetzt, weil der Fokus-Tab nach unten zieht. Das mich bei meinen Testaufnahmen zur Verzweiflung gebracht und ich musste den Ring mit Tape fixieren, um den Fokus zwischen den Aufnahmen nicht zu verstellen.
- Das Coma bei f2 ist sehr stark, selbst im Vergleich zum TTArtisan 25mm, daher vermutlich auch der softe Look bei Offenblende. f2.8 halbiert den Effekt. Ab f4 sieht es gut aus
