Autofocus of the Sony ZV-1:
The new Sony ZV1 vlog camera was developed for the digital generation to capture their dynamic lives. An important aspect of this is the autofocus of a camera. Fast, accurate and simple. The autofocus of a vlogging camera must meet all these criteria, because there is often little time and the first attempt must be perfect. If you have to constantly struggle with the camera when recording vlogs, you will probably lose the desire to vlog. Sony has already shown in the RX100 and Alpha series that they stand for fast and precise autofocus.
The Sony ZV1 already demonstrates strong autofocus performance out of the box and is adapted for vloggers. Face tracking and eye autofocus, selectable for humans and animals, ensure that the focus is on point. Extensive setting options are available for those who have already gained more experience with photography. Focus mode, focus area, AF speed and other functions can be set manually. Moving objects can be tracked with the autofocus tracking function. However, you can get started with the Sony ZV1 and reliable autofocus without the infamous Sony camera menu.
Image stabilization of the Sony ZV-1
One of the biggest mistakes in video recording is blurred images, closely followed by noise. With the new vlogging camera from Sony, special attention has been paid to image stabilization. With the SteadyShot function, additional electronic image stabilization is applied to the image so that the recordings look very smooth. There is a special function for videos during fast movements, e.g. running. SteadyShot Active. The image section is noticeably narrower, the ZV1 crops the image and delivers pleasant shots with SteadyShot Active. You can see the difference between the two modes for yourself in the Foto Koch hands-on video.

Pivoting display of the Sony ZV-1
For a long time, vlogging with Sony cameras was a challenge. With the ZV1, Sony introduces a fully side-swiveling monitor to the vlogging camera. With the rotating and tilting display, it is now possible to use an external microphone or a light on the camera while vlogging without covering the monitor. The 3-inch display of the Sony ZV1 has a resolution of approx. 1.2 million pixels and is bright enough to keep an overview even on sunny days. The monitor is also touch-capable, but only for selected functions such as selecting the focus area and focus tracking. The menu cannot be navigated via the touchscreen.
Sound recording with the Sony ZV-1
A special feature of the Sony ZV1 is clearly the built-in microphone of the vlogging camera. As soon as you unpack it, it becomes clear that you really are holding a new camera in your hands. Between the multifunctional flash shoe (left on the top) and the shutter release (right on the top) there is a microphone measuring approximately 3x1.5 cm. The supplied windscreen can be attached to the hot shoe and protects the built-in microphone from the wind. Wind noise reduction can be activated via an additional function in the menu. We tested how well this works in the hands-on video.

Functions especially for vlogging
1. Bokeh Switch
For all beginners who want to take high-quality shots quickly with the camera. The camera automatically controls the aperture so that the background is in or out of focus.
2. Skin effect
The highlight feature for beauty bloggers should be the "soft skin effect". The camera automatically softens the face.
3. Product presentation setting
The autofocus of the Sony ZV1 is adapted to faces. If you select the product presentation setting option, the autofocus reacts even faster and more accurately to all objects that are not faces.
4. Nd filter - ND8 (similar to RX100m5)
Film outside in sunny weather and still have a blurred background. This is possible with the new vlogging camera! With the ND filter function, an ND8 filter ensures that less light enters and the aperture can remain open.
5. Shooting with a smile
The ZV1 can of course also take high-resolution photos, which are automatically triggered when the camera detects a smile.
6. Bluetooth grip compatibility
The new Bluetooth handle is the perfect addition to the ZV1, allowing you to control the camera via the handle. Capture photo & video and control the zoom if the optics support it.
The battery life of the Sony ZV-1
The Sony ZV1 has an NP-BX1 battery with 4.5Wh. This allows 45 minutes of video recording or 260 photos during video recording. This is a bit weak, but the body is compact and the functions are advanced. For future bloggers, this means packing spare batteries and taking the USB charging cable with you.
