It offers the same chromatic colors, skin tones and gray reference chips as the standard size ColorChecker Video, but is twice the size. You no longer need to bring your camera closer or adjust the focal length of your Lens, can shoot under the same lighting conditions that fall on your subject, and minimize color casts from ambient light. You can also increase the shooting resolution for more accurate post-processing.

Achieving the right color balance and exposure for video can be a challenge. Camera aperture values don't always match perfectly. Ambient light conditions are constantly changing. Different cameras and Lens have different rendering, even if they are the same brand and model. All of this leads to quality control challenges and increased post-production workload for your colorist or editor.
Here's what ColorChecker Video XL offers:
Video Target: Speed up your color correction workflow by setting the ideal exposure and color balance, whether you're shooting with one or multiple cameras. The color table includes a range of chromatic color chips, skin tone chips, smoke chips and lighting check chips. It is designed for ideal performance when used with vectorscopes and waveforms, whether directly on the camera or in software.
Chromatic colors: Two rows of six chromatic color chips, both saturated and desaturated, specifically designed for alignment with the color axis on a vectorscope. These colors provide two levels of color information to achieve an ideal color balance faster.
Skin tones: from light to dark with subtle undertones to better and more accurately reproduce skin tones. This row of chips is positioned at the outer edge of the target for easy alignment.
Large Grayscale: four larger gradations for even gray balance, including White, 40IRE Gray, Deep Gray and Glossy Black. These levels are ideal for determining the correct exposure, whether you're using a waveform, zebras or art colors. Use these levels to match the exposure and contrast of cameras you are adjusting and to ensure that the midtones are rendered correctly. These chips are positioned in the center of the test target to achieve maximum exposure, even in wide shots.
Linear Grayscale: six color chips to achieve an even gray balance. This row is aimed at highlight and shadow areas.
Illumination check chips: black and white chips at two corners to better assist in determining even illumination across the entire target.
