Whether for reportage, travel, studio, architecture, landscape, portrait, close-up or video photography - thanks to its wide focal length range and consistently high speed of 2.8, the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 1:2.8/24-70 ASPH. is the new universal lens that makes entry into the Leica SL system easier than ever before thanks to its price-performance ratio.

In addition, the two sets in the camera family are aimed entirely at newcomers to the system and therefore also offer extremely attractive pricing.

An elaborate design with 19 lenses in 15 groups ensures high optical performance, with three lenses featuring aspherical surfaces on both sides and nine special lenses with anomalous partial dispersion ensuring chromatic correction over the entire focal length range. Internal focusing with a lightweight single lens uses a quiet stepper motor for fast and precise autofocus. For use in harsh conditions, the robust metal housing of the Vario-Elmarit-SL 1:2.8/24-70 ASPH. is equipped with protection against splash water and dust.

The Vario-Elmarit-SL 1:2.8/24-70 ASPH. owes its compact design to the absence of an optical image stabilizer integrated in the Lens. In conjunction with the Leica SL2 and SL2-S, the cameras' movably suspended image sensor takes over the very effective image stabilization. Both when taking photographs and when used for filming. The aperture consisting of 11 individual blades ensures a harmonious, rounded bokeh. The shortest shooting distance of just 18 centimetres with the shortest focal length and 38 centimetres with the longest focal length from the image sensor also ensures exceptional imaging performance, even at close range.
