The compact ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-200 mm (equivalent KB) zoom lens with F2.8-4.5 covers a wide zoom range equivalent to two standard zoom lenses (24-70 mm and 70-200 mm).
High-resolution optics
The camera's lens elements, including four AA (Advanced Aspherical) lenses and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, ensure excellent resolution across the entire telephoto range and right up to the edges of the image.

Fast continuous shooting at 20 fps, precise AF/AE tracking
The new, fast image sensor offers continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second (when using the electronic shutter; effective when the shutter speed is 1/60 or higher). The camera tracks subjects using up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second, even with uneven or fast movements.
Shooting without blackout keeps you on track
Shooting without blackout allows you to track subjects continuously on the camera's LCD display or in the viewfinder. The display is updated at 60 frames per second to minimize the time delay (effective when using the electronic shutter). The slower the shutter speed, the slower the refresh rate of the screen)
Single-frame continuous shooting function
The advanced single-frame continuous shooting mode captures even fast-paced action scenes, such as the moment the tennis racket hits the ball - with seven shots in quick succession at selectable speeds of 90, 60 or 30 frames per second. This allows you to capture the decisive moment. Can be used with self-timer, JPEG and RAW image formats are supported (7 photos are taken per continuous shot). Focus and exposure are fixed with the first photo in each continuous shooting mode)
High AF coverage and fast autofocus
The RX100 VII leads the industry in phase detection with a total of 357 AF points, covering 68% of the frame. This is complemented by 425 AF points for contrast detection. AF acquisition takes just 0.02 seconds (CIPA standard, internal measurement, at f = 9 mm (wide-angle), EV 6.6, program automatic, focusing mode: AF-A, focus area: centered)
Real-time tracking for moving images
Real-time tracking uses an object recognition algorithm (AI) to recognize your subjects based on color, pattern (brightness), object distance (depth) and face or eye information. Continuous, smooth focusing on the moving subject allows you to capture every important moment as a photo or video.
Real-time AF with eye detection for photo and video
Eye detection and tracking from Sony are the secret ingredients for beautiful portrait shots. Real-time AF with Eye Detection recognizes the human eye - you can even choose whether it's the left or right - and maintains focus even during movement, giving you time to compose your shot.
AF with animal eye detection
Real-time AF with eye detection is available both for animals (Real-time AF with eye detection for animals only supports photos and cannot be used together with tracking. Does not work with some animals. Focusing may not work optimally depending on the scene and subject) and for people. Successful portraits of pets are now even easier.
High-resolution, successful photos in low light
The large 1-inch image sensor with 20.1 megapixels (effective megapixels, approximate) has rear illumination and an improved standard ISO range of 100-12,800. High image resolution and low noise contribute to excellent image quality with lifelike structures.

The RX100 VII achieves shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 s. The fast data readout of the sensor helps to suppress the rolling shutter effect that can occur in photos of moving images. Soft Skin Effect and other effects
The Soft Skin Effect reduces facial wrinkles and dull skin for more beautiful portraits. With the creative style and image effect options, you can edit images to create distinctive shots.
High-resolution 4K HDR (HLG) recording and stable AF
The camera supports internal 4K (QFHD: 3840×2160) movie recording (SDHC/SDXC card class 10 or higher is required for recording movies in XAVC S format. UHS-3 or higher is required for recording at 100 Mbps. If the auto power off temperature is set to "Standard", you can record continuously for up to 5 minutes. Maximum continuous recording time may vary depending on camera temperature and environment.) with full pixel readout without pixel binning. Even when walking, the image stabilization in "Active" mode produces smooth 4K videos. The tilting display and external microphone input also ensure relaxed image and sound recordings.

Videos recorded vertically with the camera can now be viewed with the same orientation on PCs and smartphones thanks to metadata added by the camera. (Movie playback on the camera is in horizontal position. Whether movies can be viewed in vertical position depends on your device)
Interval shooting for time-lapse movies
The interval shooting function (Wi-Fi is not available for interval shooting) takes continuous shots at a set interval of 1 to 60 seconds with AE tracking. The resulting time-lapse recordings can be displayed as a camera preview or as a movie on your PC.
Instantly accessible electronic viewfinder
The XGA OLED Tru-Finder has a resolution of approximately 2.35 million dots for a bright, detailed, high-contrast display. It is quickly accessible via the extension switch and can be retracted just as quickly after use.
Tiltable display for convenient image composition
The high-resolution, 3-inch LC display with 921,000 pixels can be tilted upwards by 180° and downwards by 90° to make it easier to select the image section for selfies and shots from a bird's-eye or frog's-eye perspective.
