The 17-50mm F/4 Di III VXD (model A068) covers the range from 17mm ultra-wide to 50mm standard focal length - making it especially recommended for capturing dynamic subject scenes. The new TAMRON 17-50mm F/4 offers a continuous speed of F/4 and is equally suitable for photo and video. The shortest focusing distance of 0.19m at ultra-wide and 0.3m at standard focal length extends the shooting possibilities, allowing spectacular image results in almost any situation.

Advanced optical performance with outstanding bokeh effect at open aperture F/4
The optical construction consists of 15 lens elements in 13 groups. Three LD lenses one GM lens and two hybrid aspherical elements ensure correction of chromatic aberrations and other optical aberrations. The high resolving power ensures excellent detail reproduction from the center to the edges of the image. The Lens also offers an excellent bokeh effect at open aperture F/4, allowing close objects such as trees or flowers to stand out impressively from the background, even in landscape photography.

Compact design and internal zoom mechanism for ease of use and outstanding balance
The 17-50mm F4 weighs only 460g and has a compact length of 114.4mm - when paired with a Sony compact system camera, this makes for a well-balanced unit. The Lens has an internal zoom mechanism, so the length of the barrel does not change when zooming. This makes it easier to balance the camera and Lens when using with a video rig or gimbal. The lens construction is protected against moisture and the front lens is coated with a dirt-repellent fluorine coating.

VXD Autofocus (Voice-Coil Extreme-Torque Drive)
VXD autofocus ensures fast and precise focusing on both near and far objects. The quiet focus motor responds at lightning speed and is particularly suitable for images of moving objects.

LD (Low Dispersion)
LD elements have particularly low color dispersion indices. They reduce chromatic aberrations that appear as color fringes at the contrast edges and reduce image sharpness.

Internal Focusing (IF) System
Internal focusing prevents the tube from extending and rotating during focusing. The Lens is easier to handle and is suitable for use with polarizing or gradation filters.

BBAR G2 (Broad Band Anti-Reflection G2)
The BBAR multi-coating ensures brilliant images with natural colors. It reduces the reflection of light rays hitting the lens surface. The enhanced BBAR-G2 coating has been used since 2019.

MR (Moisture Resistant Construction)
The lens housing is weatherproof. All critical points have special seals. Lenses with this feature are ideal for outdoor use in bad weather or dirty environments.

FLR
The fluorine coating protects the front lens from dirt. It prevents oil and water droplets from sticking to the surface. Fingerprints and dirt are easier to remove.

Compatible with TAMRON Lens Utility™ software
The 17-50mm is compatible with TAMRON's proprietary TAMRON Lens Utility software. The new software "TAMRON Lens Utility", was developed by Tamron specifically to configure its own lenses. After installing the program on a computer, compatible Lenses can be connected to the computer via a connection cable to customize various functions of the Lens or to update the Lens firmware. With the help of the personal configuration, the Lens can be optimally adapted to the respective shooting situation, for example photo or video.

TAMRON's new F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD with Image Stabilizer offers a 50mm option in response to user feedback that "the angle of view of the starting focal length is not optimal" when using a 70-300mm zoom. Although the 50-300mm F/4.5-6.3 VC offers up to 300mm focal length in the telephoto range, it is extremely compact with a length of only 150mm and one of the lightweights in its class with a weight of only 665g. In addition, the precise arrangement of special lens elements ensures effective reduction of aberrations and high image quality over the entire zoom range.

The Lens is equipped with a VXD linear motor focusing mechanism (Voice coil eXtreme torque Drive), which ensures particularly quiet and precise autofocus, while the VC image stabilizer (Vibration Compensation) ensures high stability in all shooting situations.

With an initial focal length of 50mm, the lens achieves a close focusing distance of 0.22m and thus a remarkable maximum reproduction scale of 1:2. This enables fascinating close-ups and allows the user to enjoy the world of semi-macro photography to the full.
