What do the abbreviations FCC and CE mean?

The range of a drone refers to how far it is able to receive signals from its remote control and execute commands. Manufacturers such as DJI often specify the range in two variants: FCC and CE. FCC stands for the US Federal Communications Commission, which is responsible for regulating communication devices, including the radio link between a drone and its remote control. The FCC range is usually higher, as the USA has more generous radio frequency regulations. On the other hand, CE stands for "Conformité Européenne", which means that the product complies with European standards, including Germany. The CE range is the distance a drone can reach while complying with European regulations. Therefore, users in Germany should always pay attention to the CE range of a drone to ensure that it complies with local regulations.
