With fast and precise autofocus, Maestro IV processor and intuitive handling, it is tailored to modern requirements. It combines the usual high Leica image quality with 6K Open Gate Recording and advanced video functions. The Leica SL3-S is a statement of creativity.

Fast and precise autofocus
With the SL3-S, continuous shooting is possible at up to 30 frames per second with full autofocus support. This makes it the fastest Leica we have ever built and offers you reliable subject recognition by combining phase detection, object and contrast detection with powerful algorithms.

Flexible operation
Switching between photo and video mode is intuitive and efficient - thanks to a clearly structured menu that visually separates the two modes and guarantees clarity at all times. A customizable interface and numerous interfaces offer you maximum flexibility. In addition, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ensure a stable and fast connection to the Leica FOTOS app, which perfectly supports your creative process.

Sensor with image stabilization
The camera core is formed by the BSI CMOS full-frame sensor with 24 megapixels native resolution and best low-light performance. The Maestro IV processor effortlessly handles enormous amounts of data and ensures efficient image stabilization. It reliably processes image data with excellent noise performance, outstanding color rendering and high dynamic range - in all photo modes with 24 megapixels as well as with 48 or 96 megapixels in handheld multishot mode. In video production, it also supports the transfer speed for CFexpress type B as well as recordings in up to 6K with highly efficient video codecs and in the L-Log color space appreciated by professionals worldwide.

The hybrid camera from Leica
A real strength of the SL3-S lies in video production: 6K recordings in RAW format (via HDMI) are effortless. Videos and photos are equally impressive in terms of look and depth of detail - perfect for demanding and comprehensive productions. Because the image composition is just as important as the look, Open Gate Recording in 3:2 format allows full use of the sensor size instead of the classic 16:9 format. For maximum flexibility in editing. As a result, format adaptations always remain clear and of high quality.

A look at the menu
The menu is oriented in portrait or landscape format, depending on how the camera is used. Video and photo modes are visually separated so that you can keep your bearings in any situation. The user interface can also be customized to adapt the camera to your own workflow down to the last detail.

Digital workflow
The powerful connectivity of the SL3-S takes your workflow to the next level. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with MIMO technology ensure a stable and fast connection to the Leica FOTOS app. This allows you to transfer DNG images and videos in seconds, control the camera via your mobile device, install firmware updates or apply Leica Looks presets directly to your JPG images. A very special update awaits you in 2025: the integration of Camera to Cloud technology via frame.io in the SL3-S. This allows you to share data directly from the set quickly and securely with other people for coordination or further processing.

Connections
The SL3-S can be integrated into any setup. It has numerous interfaces such as CFexpress type B, SD UHS-II, HDMI type A, timecode for synchronizing image and sound as well as USB-C. For example, the camera can be connected to external recording devices, microphones, hard disks and - as a certified Apple accessory - also to the iPhone® or iPad®. The SL3-S offers you even more flexibility for tethered shooting with Capture One. Limitless possibilities for a professional workflow.

With its wide focal length spread and high speed, the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 1:2.8-4/24-90 mm ASPH. is the ideal standard Vario lens in the Leica SL system. The completely newly developed optics with internal focusing and built-in optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) impresses with a high imaging performance from 0.3 m to infinity, at open aperture as well as when stopped down.

A total of 18 lenses, divided into six movable assemblies, are used to achieve the optical performance. In addition to the four aspherical lenses, these include eleven lenses made of glass with anomalous partial dispersion to correct chromatic aberrations. The Lens delivers an almost constant imaging performance across all settings, underlining its universal applicability.

A single, very light individual lens is moved for focusing. With the help of the newly developed motor concept consisting of a stepper motor and a linear guide, it is possible to focus very quickly, quietly and precisely. The overall length of the Lens does not change when focusing. Thanks to its rectangular shape, the lens hood supplied suppresses distracting reflections and stray light very effectively. The mechanical robustness, waterproof and dustproof seals and AquaDura coating allow the lens to be used even in harsh working conditions.
