The World's Smallest and Lightest 6 7 Full-Frame System
Introducing theworld's small est and lightest 6 7 digital full-frame system with interchangeable lens and built-in optical image stabilization (with FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 Lens). The component layout, body structure, and internal mechanisms have been extensively redesigned without sacrificing full-frame camera performance. The user-friendly, rugged body is about 19%8 smaller and, at 509g, about 22% lighter than that of the α7 III9.
Expressive power that only a full-frame sensor can provide
A 35mm full-frame image sensor is about 30 times larger than a 1/2.3-inch smartphone sensor and even 2.3 times larger than an APS-C sensor. By capturing more light, a full-frame sensor opens up more creative possibilities through greater dynamic range, less noise, and higher perceived resolution. Deep bokeh with shallow depth of field is also possible when combined with a bright full-frame lens (with a wide aperture).
True-to-life shots
The back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor work perfectly together. The extra-large pixels of a 24.2MP full-frame sensor10 capture more light, for a wide dynamic range of 15 stops11 and more seamless gradations in shadows and bright areas. Excellent subject resolution, reduced noise, and accurate color reproduction achieve natural skin tones and textures.

Impressive low-light images
With its remarkable pixel size, the camera enables fantastic low-noise images in low-light situations or at fast shutter speeds, even in the high sensitivity range. The standard ISO range is 100 to ISO 51200 (expandable to ISO 50 to ISO20480012). Noise reduction is designed to be particularly effective in the common mid-sensitivity range to reliably bring out textures and details in shadows.
Impressive bokeh thanks to full-frame sensor
Bokeh stands for select focus with a blurred background, making the subject stand out. This effect gives new meaning and depth to portraits or close-ups. With its full-frame sensor, the α7C achieves bokeh effects even when a camera with a smaller sensor and a lens with the same f-number might fail. 5-axis image stabilization enables greater clarity when zooming in and out, as well as for close-ups and night scenes. Stabilization is equivalent to 5 steps faster shutter speed15. Autofocus is enhanced by optimal application of the α9's new developments, including the unique 4D FOCUS for ultra-fast, stable tracking over a wide range and extended period. With 693 AF phase detection points and 425 AF contrast detection points, the sensor provides extensive and dense AF coverage of 93% of the image area.
Powerful performance for your images
The BIONZ X image processor incorporates Sony's extensive expertise in imaging technologies. It processes images with the front-end LSI chip in 16-bit form and outputs 14-bit RAW data13 for richer, more natural-looking color gradations - even in silent or continuous shooting modes14. Combined with Sony's sensor, it delivers outstanding color reproduction, noise reduction, and low-light performance.
Continuous focus on active subjects
When tracking a fast-moving subject, the camera can use built-in AI-based tracking in real time16. The subject detection algorithm takes into account color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth), and face/eye information to detect and track the subject without interruption.Focus even on animal eyes17
Thanks to advanced algorithms, the α7C for Photos supports real-time autofocus with eye detection for animal eyes. By focusing on the eyes instead of the nose or whiskers, you'll be more successful with your animal shots - whether you're photographing pets or wildlife. Tracking is not interrupted even if the subject is partially obscured or you change camera orientation18
Eye detection for image capture
Real-time eye detection autofocus represents Sony's approach to combining speed with AI. For both stills and video, focus stays on the subject's eye even when the face is partially obscured, looking down, or backlit, so you always get stunning portrait shots. All AF modes are supported, and when face and eye prioritization AF is enabled, real-time eye-tracking autofocus is turned on in three ways: via a custom button, by half-pressing the shutter button, or via the AF-ON button.
Enable real-time tracking at any time, simply by pressing the AF-ON button
In AF-S, AF-A, AF-C or Direct Manual Focus modes, real-time tracking can now be enabled by pressing the AF-ON button. This makes it easy to capture moving objects with snapshots even in AF-S focus mode. Since you can activate real-time tracking by simply pressing it at any time in different AF modes, you have more options when shooting.
Intuitive touch operation and display19
When using real-time tracking, etc., touching the LCD screen can activate autofocus for images and videos. Touching the LCD under certain settings like this enables intuitive AF operation. When autofocus is not in use, focus can be checked by briefly glancing at the LCD. In Direct Manual Focus or MF (manual focus) modes, a peaking function highlights the area of sharpest focus in color so the focus point can be adjusted. For best visibility or for contrast reasons, you can choose between four peaking colors. This is especially effective when high-precision focusing is required, such as when shooting with a macro lens.
Capture moving subjects at the perfect time
The α7C supports continuous shooting at up to 10 frames per second20 with AF/AE tracking enabled, and up to 8 frames per second20 in Live View mode for focusing on a moving subject and capturing precise moments. Silent shooting21 at up to 10 frames per second20 enables photos in noise-sensitive environments or capturing moving babies or animals without distracting shutter noise.
Reliable autofocus even in dim light
Advanced algorithms contribute to high precision autofocus and rangefinding even at light levels as low as -4 in AF-S mode22, so accurate autofocus is achieved even in dark scenes.
Video Capture Profiles for Expressive Creation
S-Log3 gamma profiles let you capture the full dynamic range of a scene. Up to 14 levels24 let you work with fine detail and gradation in shadows and bright areas during post-processing. Alternatively, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) mode25 enables direct playback of HDR video as well as HDR workflows. In addition, the α7C offers various Picture Profile settings to expand your video capture capabilities.
Taking 4K video to a new level
Capture video with the depth-of-field control, fantastic bokeh, and clear twilight scenes that only a full-frame sensor can enable. The α7C delivers 4K shooting (QFHD: 840 × 2,160) with full pixel readout and 6K oversampling for outstanding detail with minimal moiré and stair-step effects23.
High-speed slow-motion effects on-camera
Easily create videos with up to 60x time-lapse and 5x slow-motion in full HD on-camera with frame rates from 1 to 120/100 frames per second26. Effortlessly transform everyday movements into mesmerizing artistic moments to make your videos more dramatic and exciting.
Clear digital audio
The α7C supports a digital audio interface via the camera's MI (Multi Interface) shoe. A digital microphone such as the ECM-B1M shotgun microphone or XLR adapter kit XLR-K3M provides clear digital sound for video recording of all types. The sound is enhanced to match the picture. As with other MI Shoe accessories, no cables or batteries are required, for maximum freedom when shooting video.
Designed for video shooting
The MOVIE button has been moved to the top panel, making it easier to access when shooting from different angles (for example, shooting from waist height, selfies, or vlogging). In addition, the α7C encodes the vertical orientation in the metadata so that after uploading to social media via a smartphone, the popular vertical video format is rendered correctly. This eliminates the need for post-processing on a PC.
Add more creative possibilities to videos by expanding
Connectors for an external microphone and headphones allow you to customize your video capture process. The headphone jack supports high-quality headphones for precise control of sound, and the timing for audio output can be set to Live for optimal control or to Lip Sync for synchronization of video and audio outputs. A wide range of external microphones can be connected via the microphone input, allowing for great sound in a variety of environments.
Control external flashes from the camera
Most settings - including light output - of a connected flash or wireless radio control (both sold separately) can be controlled from the camera menu, with changes reflected in the flash display. With compatible flash units, the new auto white balance function linked to the camera's face detection system achieves a natural color tone for faces. This is done by analyzing the light falling on the subject's face (from both the flash and the surroundings).
Share the world with Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) enables wireless shooting from a distance with the Imaging Edge Desktop and Imaging Edge Mobile apps. They let you take selfies remotely from creative angles, preview, adjust settings, and transfer the shots to a PC or mobile device. After shooting, you can quickly save and share images around the world by pairing with a smartphone or tablet 27 28. There's also the option of FTP file transfer for photos, even while shooting.
Bright and user-friendly LC display
The side-opening LC display with adjustable angle can be used intuitively and rotated 176° horizontally or 270° vertically. The large touchscreen with around 921,000 pixels29 offers optimum visibility even in bright outdoor environments. For both photos and videos, you can perfectly stage your picture or selfie from any position and angle. Touch tracking, touch focus, and touch shutter are all three supported.
Viewfinder for photo shooting
Despite its compact body, the camera offers flawless viewfinder equipment for clear image viewing in all environments. The electronic29 XGA OLED Tru-Finder viewfinder with 2.35 million dots delivers high contrast and faithful color nuance for reproducing fine details in the subject. To enhance the user experience, grip and shape have been carefully considered in the design so that compactness and ease of use are not compromised.
Small and lightweight, yet rugged and reliable
Magnesium alloy covers on the top, front, and back enhance the body's durability. In the α7C, camera parts and internal structures have been carefully optimized to reduce size and weight. On the one hand, an aircraft design-inspired monocoque structure30 helps reduce weight while increasing robustness, resulting in a lightweight and tough camera body. On the other hand, the highly ergonomic and dust- and moisture-resistant design31 enables comfortable and confident shooting in a wide range of conditions.
Shoot more over a longer period of time
Despite the compact body, the high-performance NP-FZ100 battery provides enough power to shoot an industry-leading number32 of up to 740 images33 on a full battery charge when using the LCD or 68033 images when using the viewfinder. It also enables up to 215 minutes34 of uninterrupted video recording when using the LCD. In addition, thanks to the USB Type-C port, the battery can also be charged during shooting using an AC adapter or power bank, so there is virtually no limit to how long you can shoot.
