The ILME-FX30 achieves high sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range, delivering 4K Super 35 resolution for stunning image quality. S-Cinetone™ ensures natural midtones, smooth colors, and gorgeous highlights that are essential for cinematic expression. Shoot with the S-Log3 gamma curve to achieve smooth color gradation in cinema, and minimize color gradation in post-production with imported custom mapping LUTs. Dual Base ISO (800 / 2500) allows you to capture the best quality images in different lighting conditions.

Advanced AF Performance:

The ILME-FX30 offers highly reliable and accurate autofocus performance with wide-area tracking across the entire frame. With real-time eye AF that follows the face and eyes (for people and animals), the subject stays in focus. Focus is maintained precisely and consistently over a wide range, even at shallow depth of field or when tracking fast-moving subjects with real-time tracking. Stable AF and flexible focusing are available for a variety of shooting situations. AF Assist, Focus Map, and Breathing Compensation are great assist features.

Compact and cage-less design:

The new ILME-FX30 has a compact and lightweight shape designed for portability and efficiency. The body has five threaded holes for accessories, eliminating the need for a cage for optimal flexibility, stability and comfort. Built-in stabilization keeps the entire setup highly mobile and can be used in difficult shooting situations without a gimbal.

Flexible operability for film production:

Quickly access your favorite elements with the new main menu. Focus on composition and framing with the optimized standby mode for movie shooting. Shooting lights and highlighted shooting indicators provide clear confirmation of the shot in progress. Flexible, high-resolution touchscreen LCD monitor allows wide positioning and compositional freedom for gimbal shooting. Zoom lever controls compatible motorized zoom lenses and enables use of Clear Image Zoom with non-motorized zoom and fixed focal lengths with excellent image quality. Auto and manual modes for aperture, shutter speed and ISO can be set independently for flexible exposure modes. Vertical side markers to check image framing in horizontal orientation.

Highly Expandable:

With an optional XLR microphone and XLR handle, digital audio can be transmitted directly to the camera for superior audio quality with a very clean audio signal. Other connections include USB Type-C®, multi/micro USB, microphone, headphones, and a Multi Interface Shoe with built-in digital audio interface. All of these connectivity options provide broad expandability for a variety of recording needs. The ILME-FX30 also supports UVC (USB Video Class) and UAC (USB Audio Class) standards, and can be connected to a compatible device via USB to serve as a high-performance webcam.

New standards in resolution and bokeh
It features two XA (extreme aspherical) elements from Sony with a surface precision of 0.01 μm. Distortion common to wide-angle zoom lenses, as well as astigmatism and image field curvature, is securely under control with this Lens. Less attractive bokeh, such as so-called onion rings, are successfully prevented by the XA elements, resulting in only wonderfully smooth bokeh in the out-of-focus areas.

An uncompromising optical design provides exceptionally high resolution and excellent contrast. Aspherical elements minimize distortion, while ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements effectively compensate for chromatic aberrations.

Sony's original Nano Coating suppresses unwanted reflections that can cause light flare and ghosting in backlit or other difficult shooting situations. Optimal resolution at any focal length
Consistently high resolution is achieved from infinity to the minimum focusing distance. The Lens features a floating focus system with two independently driven focus units. This minimizes all types of aberrations and promotes sharp, high-resolution images from infinity focus, such as landscapes, to very short focus distances for portraits or similar subjects.

Fast, precise autofocus
Two DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) systems with original Sony ultrasonic motors move two focus units in a so-called floating focus system. These focus units are moved into position with high precision to ensure the most accurate focusing possible. The DDSSM systems are also exceptionally quiet, which comes in handy when shooting video and stills alike.

Lightweight and compact for greater portability

A focus hold button, manual focus ring, AF/MF switch, and other controls provide flexibility in handling the Lens. The focus hold button can be customized via the camera menu and assigned a variety of functions to suit the user's needs.

The front element of the Lens is coated with a fluorine coating that protects against smudges and fingerprints and makes them easier to wipe off if they do stick to the surface.
