Cineasticlarge format sensor
URSA Cine models feature a groundbreaking new sensor. It is specifically designed to produce fantastic quality images in all resolutions up to an impressive 17K. Building on the original Super 35 RGBW sensor for 12K, the new large format design impresses with larger pixels and delivers an incredible 16 stops of dynamic range. The unique RGBW architecture provides an equal number of red, green and blue pixels for superior color sampling. As a result, the sensor is optimized to deliver impressively rich colors in all resolutions, providing the ultimate in image quality and flexibility. Now you can capture even more detail with a wider dynamic range than ever before! In addition, in-sensor scaling allows you to record in all resolutions without cropping.
Camera body optimized for high-end productions
The URSA Cine cameras are designed to meet the demands of any top-end production. Their body with a robust magnesium alloy body is coated with a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite. So you're nimble on set. Backlit soft-touch buttons make settings easily recognizable in all visibility conditions. You can view shots and access camera settings on the 5-inch fold-out touchscreen. The other side of the camera houses a 5-inch display specifically designed for assistance and a full set of controls. Standardized Lemo and Fischer connectors allow you to remotely control the camera while supplying power to lens motors and other accessories. There are also connections for 12G-SDI output, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio and more.
The flexibility of large format
The large format sensor built into URSA Cine cameras offers unrivaled flexibility for aspect ratios, lenses and delivery formats. The full sensor area of the 12K-LF model gives you great 3:2 open-gate shots, while the 17K-65 model gives you cinematic 2.20:1 shots. With both models you can use the large sensor area to film with anamorphic lenses and deliver in different aspect ratios with crop factors of 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.66, 1.8 and 2. Alternatively, you can film in 4K, 8K or 12K using the entire sensor without cropping, capturing the entire field of view of your Lens. The 12K LF model even offers Super 35 modes for 9K and is fully compatible with classic cinema lenses. All this equips you to create distinctive content of the highest quality!
Interchangeable lens mounts
Because you need different lenses for different projects, the URSA Cine is equipped with an interchangeable mount. This means you can attach the right mount for PL, LPL, EF and Hasselblad Lens in no time at all. You can use either high-quality PL or LPL cinema lenses, EF or Hasselblad photo lenses in large format. This makes the URSA Cine compatible with the widest conceivable range of professional Lens. Now you can film a historical drama with vintage photo lenses and the next project for sharp, precise images with modern high-speed lenses! The contact pins on all lens mount variants are used to read out the lens metadata for monitoring and for use in post-production. With the URSA Cine, you have the freedom to choose your preferred Lens depending on the task at hand.
Camera control and monitoring in high resolution
With several options for image control, the URSA Cine lets crews work faster on set. The fold-out monitor is equipped with a 5-inch HDR touchscreen on one side and an external color status LCD on the other. You can even rotate the screen and fold it back into the camera. On the right-hand side, the camera has a "station" specially dedicated to assistance in the form of a second 5-inch HDR touchscreen. This enables the crew to work on the camera without external monitors. In addition, the 1500 nits bright display with removable lens hood is always easy to read, even in bright sunlight. On-screen overlays show you status and recording parameters, histograms, image border markings and more. There is even a special focus puller mode to help you get the perfect focus.
Robust industry-standard connections
Its wide range of industry-standard connections make the URSA Cine ideal for high-end cinema productions. The 7-pin Lemo and 3-pin Fischer connections on the front of the camera provide the option to start and stop recording as well as a 24-volt power supply. Ideal for attached accessories such as focus motors. The camera is powered via an 8-pin 24V Lemo connector. An additional 2-pin 12V connector located at the rear is used for accessories with a lower voltage. This allows you to power your accessories directly from the camera. No messy external cables in sight! Two independent 12G-SDI outputs allow image control on two different screens with different overlays. Synchronizing media with Blackmagic Cloud is done via a 10G Ethernet port.
Blackmagic RAW powered image capture
Blackmagic RAW is a revolutionary format designed to capture and preserve the quality of data from your camera sensor. Blackmagic RAW stores camera parameter data, lens data, white balance, digital color chart information and custom LUTs. This ensures a consistent look of images on set and in post-production. Constant quality options fix the quality level by adjusting the compression to match the existing drawing of the scene. Constant bitrate encoding options, on the other hand, give you the best possible images with predictable, consistent file sizes. URSA Cine cameras record to the included Blackmagic Media Module 8TB. This allows you to record over four hours of Blackmagic RAW in 12K or a massive 20 hours in 4K.
Generation 5 Color Science
The 5th generation Blackmagic color processing offers a new curve for film, which allows the enormous amount of color data from the new sensor of the URSA Cine to be optimally utilized. This results in even better color conversion for more pleasing skin tones and better rendering of highly saturated colors, such as those found in neon signs and car rear lights in high-contrast scenes. The 5th generation color processing also takes over some of the complex image processing of Blackmagic RAW. This preserves the sensor data on color and dynamic range in the metadata for later use in post-production. Compatibility with all files previously shot in Blackmagic RAW is ensured with Generation 5 Color Science. You can even use the new film curve for existing material!
Integrated optical low-pass filter
The high frequencies of synthetic materials such as fabrics or the high LED matrix frequencies of video walls can cause problems when using ultra-sharp modern Lens and high-resolution sensors. Sometimes this results in disturbing interference patterns. The use of an optical low-pass filter minimizes the interference and reduces moiré and aliasing effects. This is why the URSA Cine is equipped with a high-performance optical low-pass filter (OLPF) that is precisely matched to its 12K sensor. The OLPF also provides updated infrared filtering for improved far-red conversion. Together with Blackmagic RAW processing, the URSA Cine achieves a new level of fidelity by preserving color and important image detail.
Built-in color-balancing ND filters
With the URSA Cine 12K LF's in-camera, high-quality ND filters, you can instantly reduce the amount of light hitting the sensor. The ND filters for 2, 4 and 6 f-stops, specially designed for the colorimetry and color processing of the camera, give you additional leeway for exposure even in hard light. IR filtering removes the corresponding infrared component in proportion to the reduced visible light. This eliminates infrared contamination in the image, which is caused by many ND filters. The URSA Cine ND filters are true optical filters that are positioned using a precision mechanism by turning the ND filter wheel. The filter settings can even be displayed on the LCD as ND value, number of reduced f-stops or fraction.
Full-frame recordings at higher frame rates
The URSA Cine has the power of several cameras. It can record in common resolutions and frame rates in 4K, 8K, Super 35 9K and even in incredibly detailed 12K. So you can record 100 fps in 12K at 12,288 x 6,480 in 17:9 aspect ratio or 120 fps in 12K in 2.4:1 widescreen format! Or film with higher frame rates. For example, 144 fps with a resolution of 8,192 x 5,360 pixels, 180 fps with a resolution of 8,192 x 3,408 or even in 8K in 2.4:1 widescreen format with an incredible 224 fps and 8,192 x 3,408 pixels. The URSA Cine offers flexible options for frame rates and resolution, and records with excellent rendering of moving objects. This gives you smoother edges in 8K and 4K even at lower frame rates. With an impressive 100 megapixels per frame at up to 80 fps, you can simultaneously capture perfect still and moving images in Blackmagic RAW.
High-performance internal recording media
The URSA Cine is the first digital movie camera to feature built-in cloud storage technology with ultra-fast capacity. The fast, robust Blackmagic Media Module offers a massive 8TB of storage capacity. Just like a Cloud Store Mini built into your camera! This high-speed storage allows you to record for hours at the highest resolutions and frame rates and access your files directly via high-speed 10G Ethernet. Alternatively, you can use your existing storage media together with the optional Blackmagic Media Module CF, which provides two CFexpress slots. The module can be conveniently pulled out of the camera and connected to a Blackmagic Media Dock to transfer media to a network or Blackmagic Cloud for instant global collaboration.
Full-frame 12K LF Open Gate sensor with 12,288 x 8,040 at 24 fps
Blackmagic RAW offers two encoding methods - one at constant quality, the other at constant bitrate. You decide whether to choose image quality or file size for lower production costs.
Upload media without delay
Blackmagic Media Dock speeds up your post-production workflow by allowing you to start editing and color grading faster and more straightforward. For lightning-fast access, you can connect up to three Blackmagic Media Modules from multiple URSA Cine cameras in parallel. Up to four separate editing computers can be connected directly to the four high-speed 10G Ethernet ports. Transmission is extremely fast, even when many users are accessing the system at the same time. As the USB-C connection also supports Ethernet, you can also transfer media via a simple USB-C cable connected to your computer. There is also an HDMI output that allows you to monitor the status of your media in real time on a TV or monitor.
Synchronize and edit media live in DaVinci Resolve while the camera is running
The URSA Cine records an HD proxy in H.264 in addition to the original camera media. Because the small proxy file is uploaded to Blackmagic Cloud in seconds, your footage is available back in the studio in real time. The ability to transfer media directly to a DaVinci Resolve media bin is revolutionary. It's never been done before! Wherever editors are working in the world, they have access to the footage. With multiple cameras in use, the new multi-source feature in DaVinci Resolve's editing module now shows you every camera angle in a multi-view view. Blackmagic Cloud revolutionizes global post-pro workflows.
Connect via mobile data, high-speed Wi-Fi or Ethernet
For live streams and uploads to Blackmagic Cloud, you can connect to the Internet via the mobile data of an Apple or Android phone. Simply connect the smartphone to the rear USB-C port and the URSA Cine will configure it for mobile data. This is possible with all newer 5G and 4G smartphones. You can also establish an internet connection via high-speed Wi-Fi or wired via the camera's Ethernet port. The in-camera live streaming feature gives you a solution that allows clients and post-production professionals to follow shoots from anywhere in the world. This is a truly global post-production solution. It works with Blackmagic Cloud and enables great team constellations of creatives.
Direct live streaming to your clients
Live streaming from the film set is now possible. The hardware streaming engine built into the URSA Cine supports RTMP and SRT streaming to major platforms or directly to customers. Simply establish an internet connection via Ethernet, high-speed Wi-Fi or the mobile data of a 4G or 5G smartphone. The stream status and data throughput rates from the camera's internal streaming hardware are displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD. To establish a wireless connection back to the Video Village or studio, you can also stream to a Blackmagic ATEM Streaming Bridge. This H.264 decoder converts the video stream back into a video signal. Now all participants can follow the shooting live.

Powered by Blackmagic OS
The advanced Blackmagic OS provides you with an intuitive and user-friendly state-of-the-art camera operating system. Blackmagic OS is a truly modern operating system in which all camera functions run independently of each other. This ensures smooth control. What's more, the camera boots up almost immediately. The controls and menus of the URSA Cine are similar to those of other Blackmagic Design cameras, so you can easily switch between different models on set. The user interface allows you to adjust settings, add metadata and view recording status with simple tap and swipe gestures. You also have full control over advanced camera features such as focus and exposure tools, 3D LUTs, HDR, metadata entry, timecode, Blackmagic RAW settings and more.
Digital film panel for quick metadata entry
The URSA Cine's digital film panel lets you enter metadata for any shot in an instant. Simply swipe to the right or left on the built-in touchscreen and the film panel appears. Another plus: when recording starts and stops, the film board automatically counts up the take number. This means you don't have to enter it yourself for each shot. The tape numbering can also be set so that it automatically counts up each time a memory card is formatted. The metadata of electronic lenses is read in automatically or can be entered manually. The same applies to product-specific and technical information and much more. All this metadata is stored with the files, which can later be accessed in post-production for editing and grading with software such as DaVinci Resolve.
Wireless camera control via Bluetooth
With the camera at the end of a boom or on a gimbal, you have full control via Bluetooth from up to ten meters away. The Blackmagic Camera Control App for your iPad or third-party apps such as Bluetooth+ or tRigger are available as downloads for iOS and Android devices.
