The S5M2 is based on a newly developed full-frame CMOS sensor with 24 megapixels and an image processor that is also new and was developed as part of the L² technology partnership between LEICA and LUMIX. For the first time, the sensor in the LUMIX system supports phase detection AF in addition to contrast-based AF, combining both focusing methods to create a new hybrid phase detection AF. In addition, the new processor offers outstanding image quality and high bit rate or 6K resolution video performance.

The Lens is a compact and affordable standard zoom that scores especially with its ultra wide angle and very good characteristics for video and close-up shooting.
The focal length of 20-60 mm is a bit unusual compared to classic 28-70 mm of competitors. But the wider wide angle combined with the 3x zoom factor is much more universally applicable.
We will also be using the new lens as a kit in the S1, so at an MSRP of 2,599€ we can offer a more affordable kit than before!!!

New Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens for LUMIX S series full-frame system cameras
A compact wide-angle zoom expands the lens lineup for the LUMIX S cameras as well as the L-mount alliance. Designed for professional use, the LUMIX S system focuses on uncompromising photographic quality with high-end full-frame cameras and lenses.

The LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 is a robust, lightweight standard zoom lens with a focal length from 20mm ultra-wide to 60mm for versatile use - from dynamic landscapes to portraits. The wide angle of view also facilitates indoor shooting, and the impressive close-up limit of 0.15 m (maximum magnification 0.43x) extends its use in product photography. The new LUMIX S Zoom also ensures high-quality video recording by minimizing focus breathing as best as possible.

Thanks to its compact design and low weight of around 350 g, it does not compromise the photographer's mobility. It features a dust and splash resistant design* and can be used in the harshest conditions down to -10°C. In addition, a fluorine coating on the front element repels water and oil. The filter diameter is 67mm and the lens has nine blades for a virtually circular aperture.

The Lens consists of 11 elements in 9 groups and uses 2 aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses to suppress both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic magnification aberration.

Astigmatism can be additionally corrected with these aspherical lenses, resulting in high resolving power. In addition, the UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens enables uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image and provides a compact design.

The LUMIX S 50mm F1.8 is a classic standard fixed focal length and the ideal all-round lens for travel, portraits or everyday use. It convinces with high imaging performance and its 9-blade circular aperture provides a particularly attractive bokeh. In addition, the Lens offers outstanding mobility thanks to its compact size and light weight. It also features a dust and splash resistant design and can be used in the harshest conditions down to -10° C. As part of the F1.8 lens series, it features the same size and position of controls, as well as the same 67mm filter diameter, to enable intuitive and consistent handling.
Finally, it also ensures high-quality video by suppressing focus breathing.

Identical dimensions for easy and consistent handling
The F1.8 lens series features the same size and position of controls to enable the same intuitive operation or easy adjustments for use of follow focus. Identical dimensions also allow the use of the same 67mm filters, the same matte boxes, or an underwater dome port with different focal lengths. Comparable weight distribution also eliminates lengthy adjustments when the camera is on a gimbal.

One Lens, Many Shooting Possibilities
The LUMIX S 50mm F1.8 is suitable for a wide range of subjects - from portraits to landscapes. It also ensures high-quality video recording by minimizing focus breathing as best as possible. The aperture can be adjusted in extremely small steps, making exposure changes almost stepless - another feature for professional video recording. Weighing only about 300g, the Lens is so compact that it can easily be taken along to any shoot. The rugged, dust- and splash-resistant construction can also withstand use in harsh conditions, even at minus 10 degrees.¹

Sophisticated lens design for best image quality
The LUMIX S 50mm F1.8 consists of nine lens elements in eight groups, including three aspherical lenses, one ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra-High-Refractive Index) lens. The use of three aspherical lenses enables both high imaging performance and an attractive bokeh effect with smooth sharpness-blur transitions. The ED lens, in turn, effectively suppresses chromatic aberration. Finally, the nine circular aperture blades ensure particularly round imaging of point light sources.
