The new face recognition feature now transforms the camera into the ultimate selfie camera. Camera feature - the PRESETS
An important feature of the new THETA SC2 is its various PRESETS (presets).
The PRESET FACE is particularly worth highlighting. The integrated face recognition ensures optimized exposure and automatically corrects the skin when a human face is recognized. The highlight of the PRESET FACE: in future, recognized people will automatically be moved to the center of the image and thus become the main protagonist in photos and videos.

even intelligently combines various parameters for optimum image composition. Noise reduction together with automatic compensation in the dynamic range and - if required - face detection ensure successful and contrast-enhanced night shots.

And face detection is also activated for PRESET LENS BY LENS.
However, the main players in this PRESET function are the independent exposure control and the white balance setting. Together, these enable a more differentiated shot - especially in backlit situations.

Camera feature - underwater mode with selfie function For fully spherical shots of diving and snorkelling experiences, the white balance setting has primarily been improved for underwater mode. It now ensures significantly clearer and more brilliant colors. Another new feature is that the self-timer is automatically activated in underwater mode - even after the camera is switched back on. This makes it possible to take perfect selfies even underwater.

In addition to the new PRESETS, the image processing algorithms for the THETA SC2 have also been improved, resulting in higher contrast, reduced chromatic aberrations and optimized image dynamics for improved image reproduction.

Simple operation with an integrated fun factor
The simpler the operation, the more fun it is to use. Thanks to its compactness and ease of use, the THETA SC2 will soon be in every pocket like a smartphone. Two lenses for image capture, four function buttons for operation, the shutter release and a status OLED display for checking the battery charge level or recording mode - that's all you need to create unique, full-spherical images spontaneously and at any time.

The function buttons on the THETA SC2 are just as easy to explain:
Switch on/off, select between video or photo mode, establish a connection to the smartphone and activate the self-timer. This makes taking photos and videos child's play and requires no additional accessories.

A smartphone is required to make full use of all the control convenience and functions of the THETA SC2. The THETA app can not only be used to customize the image composition or exposure control, but also to transfer and edit images and later share them easily on social networks. The range of functions available depends on the operating system and version number.

Full-spherical video clips can be created for normal perspectives and even small "subscreens" can be edited in videos - or very simple things such as stickers or texts can be inserted. Two communication channels are available for the connection between THETA SC2 and smartphone. Camera settings can be made via Bluetooth, the recording position can be saved and the camera can be triggered. Live View and image transmission are also available via WLAN.

Sophisticated camera technology
The technical data for an entry-level model such as the THETA SC2 should actually play a subordinate role. However, they are an elementary component for a full-spherical camera like this, in order to achieve precisely the performance that makes the camera so easy to use. The light intensity of F2.0 in combination with the latest sensor and processor technology delivers photos with an effective resolution of approx. 14 megapixels and videos in 4K at 30 frames/sec. This results in film sequences with a maximum recording time of 3 minutes, which can now be transferred to the smartphone up to 4x faster.

Weighing just approx. 104 grams and thanks to its slim dimensions of 45 x 130 x 23 mm (WxHxD), the camera is the perfect everyday companion that fits in even the smallest of pockets. With the new THETA SC2, the same old selfies that only show faces are finally a thing of the past and instead you can now create full-spherical content with little effort that really has something to tell.
