Super Multi-Layer Coating
An ideal lens directs the incident light through all lenses to the sensor. If, on the other hand, some of the light is reflected by individual lenses, not only is the light yield reduced; the reflections within the lens create ghost images and flare spots or reduce the contrast. Such effects would be particularly noticeable in backlit shots.

In addition to a Super Multi-Layer Coating (SML), which reduces stray light and ghost images, SIGMA's own Nano Porous Coating (NPC) technology is therefore used.
A thin layer of silicon dioxide is applied to the lenses, in which nanometer-fine pores allow the light to enter the glass almost completely without scattering it. In this way, reflections are reduced even further than would be possible with conventional multi-coatings alone.
The result is clear, sharp and high-contrast images without annoying lens flares.

For mirrorless full-frame cameras
The SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art is compatible with mirrorless full-frame cameras with L-mount or Sony E-mount.

An HLA drive (High-Response Linear Actuator) is used for fast focusing, which the Lens controls using a newly developed algorithm to achieve high acceleration with very smooth running. The autofocus with automatic eye detection used in mirrorless cameras is also supported, making the precise focusing of portraits child's play.
