The 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 is an evolution of the first generation of the highly acclaimed 70-180mm zoom lens that has received much acclaim since its launch and has now been improved in several ways. The new model retains its fast F/2.8 aperture and offers 180mm in telephoto as before, while remaining the most compact and lightweight Lens in its class. The revised optical design of the 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 achieves uncompromising optical performance with impressively high image quality across the entire focal length range through a precise combination of special glass, including XLD - and LD lens elements. The 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 combines maximum portability, ease of use and functionality worthy of the "G2" label. It offers a unique shooting experience and makes shooting with a fast telephoto zoom lens even more enjoyable.

Flash Fast and precise VXD autofocus with significantly improved subject tracking and built-in VC image stabilizer
The new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 features the proven VXD linear focus motor, which combines class-leading speed and precision to deliver fast and accurate focusing. Precise revised calculations improve tracking of moving subjects, ensuring you won't miss crucial scenes in either photo or video shooting. In addition, the 70-180mm F2.8 G2 is equipped with TAMRON's VC mechanism. This suppresses camera shake that can occur when shooting at telephoto, close focus, or in low light, allowing for sharper results.

Shortest focusing distance of 0.3m (at 70mm) opens up new unique possibilities
Close-up shooting that was only possible with manual focus with the 1st generation model is now possible with autofocus with the 70-180mm F2.8 G2. TAMRON has succeeded in shortening the focusing distance at 70mm to 0.3m. With a maximum possible magnification of 1:2.6, the lens offers unique possibilities for expressing one's own creativity.

Compact and lightweight zoom lens with integrated VC image stabilizer
Like the first-generation model, the 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 is characterized by an exceptionally handy design. Despite its fast F/2.8 aperture, 180mm celebrity focal length, and built-in VC image stabilizer, it is the most compact and lightweight lens in its class, measuring 156.5mm in length (at 70mm focal length) and weighing just 855g. The maximum diameter is 87mm, and the filter size is identical to many other TAMRON Lenses for mirrorless system cameras, with a diameter of 67mm. The new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 is easy to carry and forms a well-balanced unit when combined with the camera. Challenging handheld telephoto photography is easier and more convenient than ever with this fast zoom lens.

Revised optical design for superior image quality at all focal lengths
The optical design of the new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 includes 20 elements in 15 groups. The lens arrangement has been completely redesigned and includes several carefully placed special lenses, including one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), three LD (Low Dispersion) and two GM (Glass Molded aspherical) lenses, as well as a hybrid aspherical. This combination minimizes chromatic aberrations and other image defects and ensures consistently high resolving power across the entire focal length range. The BBAR-G2 coating (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) suppresses light reflections and ghosting and ensures brilliant, high-contrast image reproduction, for example in backlit shots. The large aperture of F/2.8, in turn, enables the popular bokeh effect with velvety background blur.

Lightning-fast and precise VXD autofocus with significantly improved object tracking
The new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 features the proven VXD autofocus with linear motor, which was already incorporated in the first product generation. This AF system offers the fastest and most precise focusing of all TAMRON lenses and further improved performance in AF tracking of dynamic subjects such as athletes or vehicles.

Integrated and TAMRON-developed VC image stabilizer
The new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 is equipped with the VC image stabilization developed by TAMRON. The VC mechanism ensures sharp images by effectively compensating for unwanted camera movement such as during telephoto shooting, subject tracking, and close-up shooting. When shooting indoors in poor lighting or in the dark, the VC image stabilizer makes it easier to shoot freehand at slower shutter speeds. When shooting at focal lengths up to 100mm, AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology provides improved stabilization performance.

Shortest focusing distance of 0.3m (at 70mm) and 0.85m (at 180mm)
The revised optical design of the new 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 allows close-up shooting from a distance of just 0.3m, an improvement of 0.55m over the first generation model. Since the distance between the camera and the subject is significantly shorter, the result is a particularly attractive bokeh effect. With a maximum possible magnification of 1:2.6, the Lens offers unique possibilities for expressing one's own creativity.

Super Zoom für unterwegs und Sport
Tolle Brennweite, unglaublich schneller Autofocus und gute Stabilisierung, dazu leicht und somit Klasse für Sportaufnahmen geeignet. Kann ich nur empfehlen

Das Tamron 70-180 G2 ist für mich als Hobbyfotograf absolut perfekt. Sowohl Bildschärfe/Freistellung/Bokeh und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis überzeugen mich.
