Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K + Tilta Camera Cage Pro Kit V-Mount L-Mount

The Blackmagic PYXIS 12K is an advanced digital film camera with a very versatile design that can be rigged in many ways to suit your productions. The new model is equipped with a full-frame RGBW sensor with 12,288 x 8,040 pixels including a built-in optical low-pass filter, 16 f-stops and two CFexpress media slots. All this is contained in a customizable housing with flexible mounting options and side plates. The Blackmagic PYXIS 12K PL features a fixed PL mount that is compatible with high quality professional cinema lenses.

Designed for Maximum Customizability

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K features an extremely versatile design that lets you build the perfect camera rig for your production! With multiple mounting points and accessory side plates, it’s easy to configure Blackmagic PYXIS into the camera you need it to be! PYXIS’ compact body is made from precision CNC machined aerospace aluminum, which means it is lightweight yet very strong. You can easily mount it on a range of camera rigs such as cranes, gimbals or drones!

Unique In-Sensor Scaling

The unique RGBW sensor architecture provides equal amounts of red, green and blue pixels for incredible color super sampling. This means it is optimized to deliver incredibly rich colors at all resolutions and provide the ultimate in image quality and flexibility. The sensor has a native resolution of 12288 x 8040 however with revolutionary in-sensor scaling you can shoot at 12K, 8K or 4K at the full sensor size with a shallow depth of field and without cropping.

Multiple Resolutions and Frame Rates

Work in a variety of film formats and aspect ratios without sacrificing quality. Using the full area of the sensor gives you a unique open gate 3:2 image, which lets you reframe your shots in post production. Work in true 6:5 anamorphic without cropping, making widescreen cinematic images more detailed and at higher resolution than previously possible. Shoot up to 40 fps at 12288 x 8040 3:2 open gate, 60 fps at 12288 x 5112 2.4:1 and 112 fps at 8192 x 3408 8K.

16 Stops of High Dynamic Range

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K has a massive 16 stops of dynamic range, so you can preserve more detail in the lightest and darkest areas of an image than typical video cameras. Optimized at 800 ISO and with an ISO range of 200-3200 it’s easy to capture great images when working in low natural light or darkly lit scenes. Together with Gen 5 Color Science and the efficiency and control of Blackmagic RAW you get incredible cinematic images.

Choose from Three Lens Mounts

With a choice of L-Mount, EF or PL camera models, Blackmagic PYXIS 12K is compatible with the largest range of cinema and photographic lenses in the world. The L-Mount model works with the latest full frame lenses from Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. With the EF model you can use high quality photo and cine lenses you may already own and the PL model lets you work with professional cine lenses from Zeiss, ARRI, Cooke and more.

All Controls at your Fingertips

The camera’s logical design puts important functions such as ISO, WB and shutter at your fingertips with physical controls. The bright 1500 nit touchscreen display is used for monitoring and focus setting, as well accessing camera menus. With the advanced Blackmagic OS, you get an intuitive and user friendly camera operating system, where all camera features run independently for smoother control, as well as enabling the camera to power on virtually instantly.

Introducing the camera cage for the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K Pro Kit.

This camera cage provides protection for the camera body and utilizes modular design options to greatly enhance the functionality of the Pyxis with mounting options such as NATO rail, Arri rosette, cold shoe, 3/8″-16 and 1/4″-20 threads with fixation points.

The side plate supports the quick transition to vertical setups as it can be used as a base plate when mounted vertically, providing enough space between the boom and Lens for most accessories. In this configuration, the plate has specially positioned threads to align the base plate with the optical center of the Lens.

This side plate also supports external mounts via the integrated SSD mount and has multiple 1/4″-20 threads for various accessories. The SSD mount is suitable for hard disks with a width of 52mm-60mm and a thickness of less than 12mm.

Both the top and bottom plates are designed so that they do not touch the heat dissipation openings of the Body, so that the cooling performance of the camera is not affected. The Top Plate is compatible with the native PYXIS top handle and also features a removable 3/8 to 1/4 thread adapter so you can choose different top handles for different sized setups.

Included in the basic kit is the Xeno Top Handle, which is connected to the Top Plate via a NATO rail. This improves handling and operating options by providing a sleek design with more clearance. This handle offers multiple mounting options for additional accessories, including a 1/4″-20 thread and a cold shoe receiver, which is perfect for mounting an external monitor.

The included 15 mm LWS base plate and two 15 mm rods allow the mounting of rod-based accessories such as matte boxes or follow focus systems. On the underside of the base plate is a Tilta Standard dovetail mount, which can be adapted for use with Arri Standard dovetails using our optional Tilta Standard to Arri Standard Multifunction Base Plate.

The battery plate can be easily inserted and locked into the Pyxis battery compartment to power the camera. It can also be attached to the top plate with a thumbscrew.

The battery plate has 2x 14.8V P-Tap connections, 1x 14.8V 2 pin Lemo connection, 1x USB-C connection and a DC power input connection.
