Canon's entry-level camera for full-frame system cameras. Those who want modern technology from Canon on a smaller budget will find a companion in the EOS R8.

The sensor of the R6 II in the Canon EOS R8

Except for the IBIS image stabilizer, the Canon EOS R8 houses the same sensor as the R6II, giving you maximum potential for strong shots in every area. Specifically, that means a 24.2-megapixel sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which offers the same powerful autofocus performance as the Canon R3 and EOS R6 II. This hybrid camera offers up to 6 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and up to 40 frames per second when using the electronic shutter, thanks to the DiGiC X processor. The DiGiC X processor is the heart of the Canon EOS R8 and offers a large buffer memory, which gives you the confidence to capture the moment almost without interruption.

Thus, the camera offers an exposure time of 1/4000 per second when using the mechanical shutter, and when using the electronic shutter, the fastest shutter speed is 1/8000.

So this sensor also offers the ISO performance of the R6 II, which can be set up to a value of 102,400, allowing for short exposure times in the dark with the aperture closed.

Autofocus performance of the big boys in the Canon EOS R8

The Deep Learning AF of the Canon EOS R8, which is retracted thanks to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, offers another plus with its versatile subject detection. If you don't photograph people, you'll benefit here from the very good subject recognition of dogs, cats, horses or birds. Animals are not your field of use? No problem! The R8 also offers the full program for vehicle enthusiasts. For example, the EOS R8 reliably detects cars, motorcycles, airplanes and trains.

With the autofocus performance of the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, the reject rate is very low and every image is razor sharp.

The Canon EOS R8 also reliably focuses on the subject in low light at up to -6.5 EV, making it perfect for photo shoots in the evening atmosphere.

Video quality

The Canon EOS R8 also offers great variety in the video department. You can get 4K-quality video without cropping at 60fps with the R8. Tolle kompakte Kamera
Habe lange überlegt diese oder das nächst größere Modell zu kaufen. Bisher total zufrieden. Einziger Nachteil die kleineren leistungsschwächeren Akkus. Dafür deutlich kompakter und weniger Gewicht

Viel Inhalt für wenig Geld
Ich habe mit der R8 den Umstieg aufs spiegellose System gewagt und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Man bekommt hier quasi eine R6Mk2 in einem kompakten Gehäuse welches so leicht ist, dass man die Kamera immer mit dabei haben kann. Wenn man auf IBIS verzichten kann und man den kleinen Akku in Kauf nimmt, gibt es kaum etwas zu bemängeln.
