14-bit RAW output for rich color gradation
For more natural gradation, the BIONZ X image processor and front-end LSI process image signals in 16-bit form. This processor enables data output in 14-bit RAW, even in silent mode or continuous shooting mode.

4D FOCUS - Autofocusing evolves
Autofocus performance has been improved by optimally applying the same autofocus innovations as the α9. So once the α7 III captures subjects with unpredictable movements, such as dancers, boxers, and wildlife in action, it keeps them in focus.

Furthermore, this camera has an impressive number of phase-detection autofocus points: 693 of them, covering about 93% of the image area, and 425 densely placed contrast-detection autofocus points for better focusing.

Fast hybrid autofocus combines AF phase detection for excellent speed and tracking with high-precision AF contrast detection. This system doubles autofocus speed.

Improved AF tracking for fast-moving subjects - Autofocus performance inherited from the α9 provides AF tracking with greater precision during continuous shooting of fast-moving, action-packed scenes. Faster readout of the image sensor enables tracking of even complex subject movements and precise anticipation of sudden movements.

Improved AF algorithms contribute to high autofocus precision at light levels down to EV-3 and provide more reliable autofocus for scenes in the dark.

693-point focal plane autofocus with phase detection not only covers a wide range and responds instantly - it provides high tracking performance even with an A-mount lens mounted via Lens Adapter LA-EA3.

Eye-detection AF revolutionizes portraits -
With the α7 III, eye-detection AF can now be used in AF-C mode to achieve effective eye detection or tracking performance when shooting: Even when the face is partially in darkness, even when the subject is looking down, and even when backlit.

The α7 III features a touch focus function and a touch pad function. This allows you to intuitively move the focus area with a finger movement when using the viewfinder.

Use autofocus for photos while the focus area is magnified in the viewfinder or on the monitor, and magnify the view after autofocusing.

AF fields/points can be changed when you switch between horizontal and vertical orientation. You can assign focus point settings to custom buttons.

Fast continuous shooting captures the most important moments
The α7 III can take continuous shots at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking and up to 8 frames per second in Live View mode. The camera also supports silent shooting at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking and maximum resolution.

Up to 177 JPEG (standard) images, 89 compressed RAW images or 40 uncompressed RAW images can be captured in a single burst.

This camera enables silent shooting at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. Noiselessness can be critical in scenes where even quiet noise can thwart the ideal shot.

Artificial light flicker is detected, then the shutter is timed to minimize possible exposure and color anomalies in images taken at fast shutter speeds or during continuous shooting.

Full pixel display without binning for high-definition 4K movies - Pixel display without binning in 35mm full-frame mode makes it possible to compress approximately 2.4 times as much data as required for 4K movies (QFHD: 3,840 x 2,160), minimizing moiré effects and image defects. In addition, 4K recording uses the XAVC S format with bit rates up to 100 Mbps.

Improved fast hybrid autofocus for video recording - Fast hybrid autofocus with phase detection and contrast detection locks onto moving subjects and tracks them smoothly. A wide autofocus range, similar to that for stills, is now available for movies. Reduced autofocus speed at the low end allows for more pronounced effects when focusing slowly.

HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) for instant HDR workflow - Movies shot in HLG image mode are displayed true to life with minimal underexposed or overexposed areas without color correction.

S-Log enhances gradation from shadows to midtones and a wide dynamic range of up to 14 steps. Choose from frame rates between 1 and 120/100 frames per second for up to 60x fast motion and 5x slow motion.

This premiere marks the beginning of a new era in the history of travel zoom lenses: the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 is the first lens of its class to offer the high aperture of F/2.8 at the 28mm wide-angle position. In addition, the widest possible aperture is F/3.5 at focal length 50mm, F/5 at 100mm, and F/5.6 from 150mm to 200mm. Thus, the very compact 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 proves to be an exceptionally versatile photo lens that is recommended for a wide range of shooting situations.

Compact and lightweight - ideal for everyday and travel
All lenses of the Tamron E-mount series4 for mirrorless full-frame cameras are characterized by their optical and technical performance as well as high ease of use. In addition to a uniform filter size (Ø 67 mm), the developers paid particular attention to the compact body design and low weight when designing the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6. The new travel zoom lens is only 117 mm long and weighs just 575 g, and the body diameter of 74 mm is remarkably small. These key data make the new zoom lens the ideal companion for a carefree photo tour.

Uncompromising image quality for unlimited creativity
The optical construction of the new travel zoom Lens consists of 18 elements in 14 groups, including several special lenses such as GM (Glass Molded Aspherical), XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) elements and hybrid aspheres, which minimize optical image errors and enable high resolution values. The lens surfaces are coated with Tamron's BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating, whose anti-reflective property reduces distracting ghosting and aperture spotting for sharp, brilliant images. It also supports in-camera distortion and vignetting correction, ensuring consistently high image quality right to the edges, regardless of the focal length selected.

In developing its travel zoom lenses, Tamron has always focused on setting new standards in image quality for this class. The 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 is no exception, making it just as suitable for spontaneous snapshots as it is for sophisticated composed photography.

Superior close-up capabilities
For a travel zoom lens, the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 has exceptionally good close-up capabilities. The 28mm wide-angle allows you to focus on the subject from just 0.19m away, achieving a maximum magnification of 1:3.1. At the same time, the background can be beautifully blurred thanks to the large aperture of F/2.8. When shooting with the 200 mm telephoto, the shortest focusing distance is 0.80 m, which corresponds to a reproduction scale of 1:3.8. Users can therefore take impressively composed close-ups at any focal length.

Quiet autofocus with RXD technology
The autofocus system features a sensor that determines the current focus setting of the lens and an RXD stepping motor (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive). Both ensure fast and precise automatic focusing so that the focus can be continuously tracked even with dynamic subjects. The autofocus works so quietly that virtually no distracting focusing noise is recorded during video recording. Compact RXD technology also contributes significantly to the compactness of the 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6.

Weather sealed construction, fluorine coating and zoom lock
The bayonet ring and other critical areas of the lens body are sealed against moisture and splashing water, enabling outdoor photography even in adverse weather conditions. The front lens is protected with a water- and grease-repellent fluorine coating that is easy to clean and less susceptible to contamination, such as fingerprints or water droplets. In addition, the zoom lock function prevents the lens barrel from accidentally extending during transport.
