An empty alleyway in a metropolis, tall buildings towering into the night sky and artificial light illuminating the darkness. Together they form magical motifs that Aishy, photographer, art director and video director from France, captures with his camera and immerses us in the Japanese night scenery.
AishyThis is how it all began...
I bought my first camera, a Nikon D3200, in 2014 and that's when my passion for photography began. I gradually switched to taking photos at night. The artificial light sources that illuminate Japan at night were a great source of inspiration. With my photos, I want to take the viewer into my own universe of the city, which is characterized by lights, reflections and the special nocturnal atmosphere.
Professionally, I initially worked as a graphic designer and was able to work on many photo and video productions in an agency and try out my creativity. At the end of 2020, I went freelance and have been working for various brands ever since.
I visited Japan for the first time at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020 and was immediately impressed. As I had previously only photographed in French cities, it was of course a huge cultural contrast. I walked through the streets at night without knowing where the path would lead me. But it was precisely this that usually led me to the most interesting motifs and reflected the special atmosphere in my pictures. When I'm out and about, I try to photograph most subjects handheld so as not to attract attention and not to lose too much time in one place. For long exposures, however, I use my tripod.
Aishy City LightsShowing a special perspective through colors
My photos should appeal to the viewer through the colors, a special perspective and their surreal dimensions. I like to work with cold light, which for me is inspired by the cyberpunk and neo-futuristic world of cinema and the Matrix or Blade Runner films. Japan is a paradise for night photographers, as there is something to capture on almost every corner and in every alley.

Glenn NorwoodNever be afraid to try something new!
I draw inspiration from every trip I take and come up with new ideas. I photograph urban cities as well as nature, landscapes and portraits. Photography is my way of expressing myself creatively, conveying emotions and sharing this with others. Exchanging ideas and meeting other photographers is very important to me. Sharing and discussing visions with colleagues is stimulating and fundamental. My photographic work evolves over time, just like my way of working. It is important to me to constantly develop, to try out new things and not to stand still; you should never be afraid to try something new and define your own rules. Photos can tell so many different stories, it's up to us to write them.
